This song came out towards the end of last year December and still feels the same each time I listen to it...it's March 2017 now and it's still one of my fav tracks. Runtown definitely went through a lot to get this song right and it shows. Embracing the cultures of two of Africas major influencers in music, creatively it's a masterpiece.

When I first heard this song I said wow he knows Waakye and shito ...This man must be a Ghanaian. I then came to find out he was Nigerian . One thing ive really admired about Runtown and his music is his diversity. He not only makes music for the Nigerian or Ghanaian but also for the Jamaican . The American , the African ...the song just makes people feel happy . It's a hit in Gh, Naija and across borders and wherever ur from listening to it ,it gives that happy positive vibe. This is what music should be about bringing different people of different cultures together . Music is a language all understand and wherever it is influenced from or made in it gives us a chance to understand another person's culture. Not to discredit his own but to say this is something that I want everyone to be able to come together relate to and enjoy this.

Do people even WATCH the video?? Even the producer himself said its not a Ghana sound, he stems his creativity from his mothers homeland in Nigeria, its an Africa sound, our rhythms that create these amazing vibes. Stop fixating, we have each others ethnic groups in each others country, why allow false borders stagnant our unity?
@kwakuassiamah6849
@kwakuassiamah6849 7 жыл бұрын
Please tell me where in the video does the producer say that.. Let give you evidence. At 5:25 runtown clearly states we were looking for a hilife and Alkayida bounce(The ghana type of percussion). You do know where hilife and Alkayida comes from right? You guys sometimes have sooo much pride that you cant even accept that you were influenced by other African music. This is facts. Pls show me where in this video did the producer mention your aforementioned point.. Pls tell me where the producer claim so, I will wait .....lol Why is giving credit soo much hard for people.....
@kwakuassiamah6849
@kwakuassiamah6849 7 жыл бұрын
@6;43 ..And Runtown states " I hope a lot of people will be expecting a girl doing the Alkayida or girl in kitchen cooking waakye" like are you serious. Come one , give credit where is due. This song has Ghana written all over it the only thing Nigerian about this tune is the composer.. @ 9;02 its clearly that the producer didnt want to limit the music to Ghana then 11:29 listen to what Runtown states..lol

Its my sound and its on my download and on repeat but can Runtown top this? Love the whole sound like 'Kilode'. my Young nieces can't get enough of 'Mad for you'. The success to any musician having a 'smash' (not just a hit) is if you appeal to your female fanbase young listeners. Once it has a sound and good lyrics that resonates with the passion or love for a woman, its a dance filler.

music does not respect the random lines drawn on maps by colonizers, you hear the same clave from Cuba to Congo to Nigeria to Ghana, he's right music flows, just like reggae influenced hip-hop which influenced dancehall which influenced hip-hop... Even if you look back in our history and culture you have the same folktale: about Ananse the spider wanting to own all the wisdom in the world and keep it all for himself in a gourd, but when he found out his son still had some common sense that he lacked, he smashed the gourd in anger and wisdom scattered all over the world. In Nigeria you have the same story about Ijapa the tortoise trying to collect all the wisdom in the world with the same result. Are we going to argue about who stole who's folktale? or be wise enough to realize that nobody owns all the musical goodness in the world just as nobody can own all the wisdom in the world
