Wow, my hair was terrible on this one. But it's still a really cool paper about something we previously understood poorly.

A fascinating brief rundown on what looks like it's going to be a watershed fossil. And I can totally see why you decided to forego sharing those forensic images.

Here's a homework assignment. Find out which animals and plants survived the KT event and find out how they survived. Crocs? They could live in brackish water and slow their heartbeat - that one's pretty easy. What survived that a croc could eat a couple times a year? The "extinction event" wasn't technically an extinction event. Did thousands of species of insects and flowers and trees survive? Dozens? I don't know why but I would like to see more peer-review papers that really ask some imaginative questions. Did the survivors have anything in common? Little feathered bird dinos, in caves?

It's amazing to me that such an important specimin has taken a century to be properly prepped.

Not at all. It'd add detail for the general public. I'd contact eh museum first though, cause that might get you paid

I have leg and toe bones of a deer w/ many (40?) spurs and wings of bone around the joints, some an inch or more in length. The wings are almost flat and curve slightly. Was this all caused by infection or just terrible healing w/o infection from bearing weight? It has a decent amount of "bubbly" pitting and its thickened 100%. I have the radius or tibia, 2 carples or equivalent and a meta. All are in bad shape. The wings overlap the carples from both sides and it has 2 itself. No obvious fracture either in the "bubbles" (technical term) and the joint is toast and twisted open. Its like a growth not a hole. Possible the wrist was split? It looks wild I would appreciate a vague reply on limited info w/ your opinion 😃

Without seeing it its hard to say, and I'm not a mammal expert by any means. I'd recommend finding someone at a university or National Forest near you to try and get some more specific help. It does sound interesting though!

I thought there was a hadrosaur mummy from like 190x or 191x that showed the "mit" or hoof like foot?

That is this one. But there hasn't been a published paper on it yet, just some photos online. So there's probably people working on that, but for now at least it's more like an open secret.

Besides Borealopelta, has the fossil of a mummified dinosaur head ever been found? If so which species?

Define mummified. Dried up and preserved skin, bones and organs? Then no, that's not possible. Mineralised skin, bones and organs that look really life-like? Yes, sure

If it was an inland sea environment, would there have been high salt concentrations, and possibly anoxic layers in the water column?
