Minutes to Midnight was great lol It was A Thousand Suns where people started to drop off. MTM was a natural progression of their sound. A Thousand Suns was a complete change of genre. As a fan of Linkin Park who loved Chester, my mind didn't change just because Chester died. I really don't like One More Light. I liked Heavy, but the rest of the album just wasn't for me. I really didn't like A Thousand Suns or The Hunting Party. Living Things was the only post MTM album where I liked the majority of the songs. People go to a certain band because they like the way they sound. Doesn't matter who they are. If Justin Bieber released a heavy metal album tomorrow, his fans would turn on him. If Metallica released a country album tomorrow, their fans would hate it. It could be the greatest album of all time, but you can't be surprised that your fans who liked you for one thing don't like drastic changes. When you buy a chocolate bar you expect chocolate, not nougat. You might really like nougat. The nougat might be really good. But you wanted chocolate.
@lincoln4959

This is what i love about LP. They're never just one thing. They're always evolving and expanding their sound, which is hard to do but what artists are supposed to do. You can't play one style of music forever, you're going to exhaust it at some point. Instead you have to continue to explore and grow.

If they had put out another meteora/hybrid theory sounding album instead of MTM, it wouldn't have been as good. It would've just sound repetitive and also means they're just doing it for the fans. And they would've lost a few years that they could use to grow as a band. It's a lose lose situation. They knew what they were doing and they did the right thing. Imo

@FiliPassos If you listen carefully this tribute band 1. the singer cant use his voice the way Chester did, he misses a lot of disturtion parts in phrases while his scream is really good 2. he doesnt have those touching tones in his clean voice which Chester had 3. The emotions are missing Chester felt every word he sang 4. He doesnt run and jump on stage the way Chaz did and after that crazy running and jumping he could still sing as God, but this guy wouldn't be able to handle it while what I personally think they should have started writing own music instead of being a copy, because that guy is a good singer.

Looking back after Meteora 20 came out, Mike wasn't kidding. They could have made more versions of meteora and hybrid theory, which you can see in Meteora 20 that they could easily do that with ease and successfully. With that said, I'm so glad they departed and did their own thing when they made minutes to midnight and a thousand suns. because it shows they had more to offer sonically for themselves, and had more range than what everyone often associated them with. Thank you LP for having an impact and opening the floodgates for music listeners that ended up loving other artists that impacted them and listening to a swath of genres such as Djent metal, break beat etc and then some.

I remember being the biggest Linkin Park fan in my classroom, perhaps even in my grade. I couldn't stop gushing about LP enough. I introduced my friends to LP and some of them who had printers at their homes (not a very common thing in India), used to bring printouts of LP and Chester specifically for me. I used to scrape things like "Linkin Park Rocks", " LP is the best band", "I love LP" using a compass, literally on every single bench. I still have those printouts, I have posters in my rooms which they got me and most importantly I still have those beautiful and innocent memories of when I first got introduced to LP and their amazing and in a sense, life-changing music. I used to consider myself so lucky to be born in the era where they made music, I just hoped to see them live and meet all of them once, it hurts to realise that that is never gonna happen. However, Linkin Park changed my life, and no matter what I'll always remain a soldier

watched a few days ago and what i cannot get out of my head is (30:29) where they realize they're not done with Chester's vocals, pick up the phone to ask him to come back in, and a few minutes later, there he is, beaming smile, and belts it out like no one else could. what an absolute luxury, just complete magic to have that moment. absolutely heartbreaking in hindsight.

I can concur with this statement. But also, I feel like it speaks a lot to him and his personality. He was probably really pissed, frustrated at the least and he's still smiling for the cameras and putting on his best face. Hiding that side of yourself you don't want people to see, especially when people look to you to feel good.

Looking back on this era of Linkin Park and revisiting this documentary to see how hard they worked to come up with something fresh really gives you perspective on how damn amazing it is what they managed to accomplish with this record. "No Roads Left" is one of the standout tracks to me, and I'm surprised it ended up as a b-side.

"Linkin Park" you did a good job on all the albums! Well done! Brad, Dave, Rob, Joe, Mike and Chester. These guys would like to see again on the same stage, in the same room, in the same studio. Thank you so much for the unforgettable moments in life! Since childhood with you! There wouldn't be a childhood without you. And let all the critics lie low and hide! You are special to me and to others. Fools blindly believed that you were looking for popularity. But we knew we wanted to surprise us with a new sound. That's what you did! You surprised us. And that's in all the good sense for me. Thank you so much! I can't help you any more than the likes, likes, the birth of new fans, etc.

For those who are interested: No More Sorrow was called Ebow because of the droning guitar at the beginning. They used a device called an Ebow, which has an electromagnet that vibrates a string it is held over. It's like a violin bow, but with magnets

Chesters first band Grey Daze did it and they say they have enough for 2 other albums. But the "Ameds" album is a real tribute to Chester. I love it because it isn't about money it is for fans and for his older friends before LP to make a goodbye. I mean guitar players of Korn worked on it or the guitar player from BUSH. I think LP doing it atm wouldN't be right time. maybe in 10 years or so.

LP was my bridge from rap to rock when I was young, since I grew up in an area where mainly rap was the music preference. And that made me find out who I was, how music can affect you and how it can perfectly describe how you feel. LP took the two music genres I loved and combined them, and combined lyrics that covered how I felt and what I had been through. Ive never gotten to see them live, and thats probably a regret I`ll carry with me to the grave, but I know that without their music I probably wouldnt be who I am today, or maybe even be here at all. Theres probably many LP fans that feel the same way, and I hope every single band member knows this. I wish them all the best moving forward, and I hope they have the best life they can. They sure as hell deserve it!

Its heartwarming to hear about Mike's struggle to take over some of the singing. I saw you guys in Oklahoma City in 2008 I believe it was. Anyway, Chester tore his larynx or something cray during the show. But you guys still did an encore! I remember screaming out for some of the Minutes to Midnight songs.
