I remember when I first watched Rose Red, the entire plot with professor Miller ended very oddly. In the beginning of the film he had a pretty prominent role and it faded out prematurely. Learning now that he actually passed away before he could finish this film makes it make sense. It makes me wonder how the movie would have ended if he didn’t pass away.

Hill house, bly manor, and rose red. Cinematic master pieces, the magnum opus of haunted houses and ghost stories. Splendid trifecta, fantastic writing, wonderful music, excellent cast... they all have emotion, depth, and soul. You care about the people, the dialog, the characters. You immersed in the story... such rare gems in a world over saturated by entertainment, such a true delight and a rare diamond to be found in the deep dark depths of a hollowed out coal mine of cinema these days.

If I get multimillionaire one day, I´ll call all these set designers and the remaining crew from these films (who are still alive) and build up a huge sort of Disneyland of movie sets, so Rose Red and the Goonies ship floating on the water and everything will be rebuilt to the tiniest details and small groups of people will be able to come in and experience memorable scenes and explore the sets as if they were in the movies. Don´t know why nobody in Hollywood had this idea already, would be paradise for enthusiasts!

So, does this mean Rose Red was based on a true story? I know the Thornwood Castle is supposed to be the location where Stephen King filmed his TV movie. Stephen King wrote "Rose Red" as a loose retelling of "The Haunting of Hill House." He and Spielberg were working on a remake of it together- which eventually became the 1999 remake- but they couldn't pick a preferred way to remake the story, so they went their separate ways and King made "Rose Red." He was very open about it being a reimagining that blends his favorite elements from the original stories together and brings something new to the table.
