My mother turned me on to this back when it first was aired. She said that it was 'good' - so (of course) it was GOOD! I never for once dreamt that the REAL reason it was 'good' was to keep me out of her hair for a period of time - because it really was GOOD!!

Supercar is now on ITVX. I hope its not just grown up children who are watching it, although, I'm not sure what today's generation will think of it. Now as Captain Scarlett comes with a warning that it comes wirh explosions and violence, what would Torchy come with? Probably a voucher for some therapy.

It probably is just grown-up children watching. For one thing, it’s in black and white. I would never have watched Thunderbirds in the 90s if it hadn’t been repeated by the BBC and (more importantly) if a schoolfriend hadn’t recommended it. It might seem that children are more likely to be exposed to a wide range of content nowadays, but based on my experiences as father of a two year old, popular streaming services (Netflix, Prime) only promote new children’s programmes - perhaps because there’s no need to vet them for smoking, sexism, stereotypes, various prejudices, etc. I can’t even find the original series of Thomas the Tank Engine for my son. It’s irrelevant whether it’s better or worse than the latest incarnation: there’s no reason for anyone to promote it. All the money is tied up in new projects.

@@womble1981 I think a youngster would look on Supercar as a historical curiousity, a bit like we would view a Victorian Zoetrope. ITVX and Talking pictures and broadcasting a lot of the shows, but I wonder if they'll transmit Joe 90, as it's incredibly violent and the whole concept of a youngster getting adult thought patterns could be upsetting for them. But back in the 60s, when Joe 90 first transmitted, I just saw it as another highly exciting vision of the future, and just loved all the action

Graydon Gould's grandson Edd ran a popular animated series on KZbin before his death in 2012. His friends run it now. The show was called Eddsworld. Always wondered if there was a connection, or if it was a coincidence, but it turned out to be true. Its just amusing that a show i watched on video as a kid had connections to a webseries i watched as a teenager, no matter how loosely

We had no idea of the connection, but were familiar with Edd's work. What a small world.
