"And then for the next one, we thought people wouldn't be impressed if we marginally increased the roster. So we went for a minimum roster of 120 characters. *We really felt like we havd to surpass the players' expectations.*" Wow. Wish devs still thought this way EDIT: being wrong is FUN

Criminally underrated, right on par with ZeroAnnihilated’s Depth of Tenkaichi, and somehow better than Globku’s deep dive on Tenkaichi 3’s competitive scene. Highly appreciate the timestamps and overall use & citation of sources. It’d be great to make a longer and more detailed video just about the unused content from the prototypes and demos of the game, considering they speak volumes about game design and development. Overall, don’t get too discouraged by your current number of views and subs, but continue making peak content instead! Much appreciated, mate!

This is one of the kindest and most helpful comments I’ve ever received on here, thank you so much for this and I’ll keep pressing on! Yeah it’s a bit of a shame people don’t quite understand how technical the tenkaichi games are, perhaps a more in-depth video at some point is worth doing

Nah wtf...This was one of the best indepth looks at a game i've seen. This was absolutely amazing and you should be extremely proud. With Sparking Zero coming out this year i really hope this gets more views. The editing was extremely well done, especially with the small, silly memes that broke the seriousness up of the documentary-style very nicely. Your script was well put together, the only criticism is the voice quality of you speaking.. It seemed to fluctuate High then low. But thats easily overlooked because of quality of the rest of the video AND seeing how this is your first video on the channel. This documentary also made me realise that for most of my adult life looking back, i had been reminiscing over the wrong game. I loved the series, but couldnt afford to buy these games so borrowed from friends at school, i distinctly remember flying around a map and having so much fun with item fusions. I thought it was BT3 but actually...it was BT2 that i was remembering. Also this video deserves a million views just based on the fact that you didnt include Ultimate Tenkaichi hahaha. But for all intensive purposed, again, as a huge Fan of the series...This was amazing, Vision. Hope to see more of your content.

It doesn’t matter if you are an old or a new fan of the tenkaichi series, this video has something for everyone. I enjoyed every second of it, it was so engaging and well-made. You should not be discouraged by the low number of views or likes, because this video is underrated and deserves more attention. You have earned yourself a new subscriber, my friend. Great video, great research. You're missing a bit of editing experience, though. The audio mixing is way off in certain parts of the video (music making your voice hard to hear, and volume changes all over the place). It's a learning curve so I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Keep it up!

I love the BT games (specially 2). However, I do think my favorite is still Infinite World (Budokai 4). The capsule system consolidation, removal of the awful Dragon Rush from 3, addition of characters like GT Vegeta, great cinematics, variety in game modes/mini-games, I think its the best in my eyes. I'm super excited for Sparking Zero (Tenkaichi 4) because, while fun, Raging Blast 1 and 2 weren't good enough sequels for me. I do hope what-if stories return.

Amazing documentary on the Tenkaichi series congrats to you 7th vision for making this! I have to share my personal view on this series although i have to say i cant recall everything its been too long. It was around 04 to 05 that a friend told me about budokai 3 i remember struggling through it i never liked neither its controls/gameplay or item managing systems but i loved DBZ and there was nothing else bk at that time so....yeah...i played through it tolerating it and making some progress then i left it. The next year '05 i heard about Budokai Tenkaichi mind you there was nothing bk then only magazines and then again i didnt got any info about the game from a magazine so im looking at it and i say another budokai game....hmmm... pfffft but lets give it a try...BOY was i wrong for thinking tenkaichi was like previous DBZ games WAS I WRONG!!!!.......Tenkaichi for me at that time... it had EVERYTHING everything a DBZ fan could ask -Tenkaichi had. I played the HECK out of it on my ps2 recomending it to anyone i knew same with Tenkaichi 2 but harder xDDDD i dont know how many hours i spent doing fictional matches between characters that never took place in the series and here is the great magic of Tenkaichi not only it had great and i mean GREAT gameplay music and visuals for the time but it placed Dragonball on your hand giving you complete control over what ever what if scenario you wanted to pull off that meant infinite replayability and that is the very reason its still being played today. Im glad Bandai namco woke up from their slumber and are finally giving us the proper Tenkaichi 4. Id say much more but i cant remember much only the sheer awesomeness of a feeling this trilogy left me with...

This video is really awesome and a huge nostalgia trip for dragon ball budokai tenkaichi fans, the video editing is very good! HOWEVER man, I don't know ehat happened with the audio editing. Sometimes it is only on the left audio channel which makes listening through speakers or headphones a huge pain unless you turn on mono audio, in some parts of the video the music covers up the voice which makes following what is being said quite difficult and the volume mixing is also all over the place, with the script being pretty quite while sound effects blast you. Hope it gets reuploaded with these issues fixed!

So crazy that Tenkaichi 3 is still the Holy Grail of all dbz games. Im so hyped for tenkaichi 4, but also so scared of how itll turn out. The number 1 thing is the amount of characters. Are they going to be faithful to tenkaichi 3 and give us all (and so many) the characters for free, or are they gonna fuk it up with microtransactions.

Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.🤷🏻‍♂️☯️✌️

Thank you for the video man, really well edited, I really enjoyed and I am ready for next sunday. It saddens me that we might not get half of what we expect in sparking zero. While playing the original trilogy as a kid as time went by i saw how for instance they removed the radar and lock-on system in tenkaichi 3, also they removed items on stage, or also they remove being able to guard in 4 directions, letting it be only up and down, also damaged clothes got downgraded... I dont think they will put so much detail but lets wait just one more week and see what they got. Ryo mito is in there, maybe he remembers all he tried to accomplish back then

This video is ridiculously well edited considering the length. I was expecting a channel with at least 50k subs when I was watching, and then I realized you have less than 1k. I hope you keep going, this video is great on a niche subject. I would maybe suggest simplifying the editing since most people don't watch, only hear, these long ass videos. I would rather have more content than more well edited content when it comes to these long video essays. Conversely, if you really wanna flex your editing skills, shorter videos that have more condensed information? Anyway, hope you keep going!

Great video, but just one suggestion. If you make this a fixed video, with just stereo sound, you'd be racking in more views. When the first Tenkaichi released, it was different and ok for the time but me and my brother were so disappointed when we realized there was no in-game transformations so we quickly went back to playing Budokai 3. When Tenkaichi 2 dropped the following year, it was so insane just how vastly improved everything was from the first, the gameplay felt better and less sluggish, finally had in-game transformations and fusions, the story mode and the fact it included the flying around the map portion similar to Budokai 3’s story mode, better combos, the list goes on. I grew up on the OG budokai games but when Tenkaichi 2 released, it and 3 automatically made me prefer the Tenkaichi series over Budokai because it felt more like a Dragon Ball game whereas Budokai was more so a fighting game with Dragon Ball elements. Even tho Tenkaichi one was nothing compared to the sequels, it really does deserve more credit because it was the blueprint for what would become one of the best DB games and Spike took that blueprint and went all out with it in the sequels, even the little attention to details like the Spirit Bomb forming in the sky when using “Give Me Energy”, the androids not being able to power up but also not being able to be drained of Ki/HP and also being harder to lock onto, etc was really impressive for a PS2 game. That alone makes me know that Sparking Zero is gonna be even crazier with the vast advancement in the systems now compared to the PS2 era!

Aside from the few American-made Dragon Ball games (Sagas, LoG1&2/Buu’s Fury, CCG, Taiketsu, Transformation) Atari had nothing to do with the development process of the rest of the Japanese-developed games. They were simply license holders for US distribution. Bandai has held the rights and ultimate say on video games in the franchise since the 80’s which it returned to the doing worldwide in 2009.

31:26 Sorry I gotta call this one. The items did not give the story mode "replay value". They made unlocking characters a chore. And I don't mean, "oh you gotta get through all these certain fights to unlock them what a grind" no I mean actually unlocking them, as in when you have all the conditions met but still need to mess around with the stupid item mixing system. Every character in the game is only unlockable through as single combination of items, all of which have fairly vague names unless you're caught up on DBZ lore. Having King Kai tell you, "oh that combo's not right" and having to scroll through endless mind numbing menus over and over again just to unlock someone as lame as Qui is not fun. It wouldn't be so bad if every character had a few combinations of items you could fuse to get them, making you think about which characters you want now or which items you might want to save for later. It doesn't help that the story is padded to hell and back. 30 fights per saga with 6 loading screens each for a story that's already been told a million times. I can't believe people actually like this more than 3's story mode.

"the fighting might look outdated by today's standards" literally the most open ended, dynamic, and creativity inspiring fighting mechanics THAT MAKE MODERN FIGTING GAMES LOOK LIKE GARAGE. Dragon ball kakarot, xenoverse, ultimate ninja storm, Shinobi strikers. All games that could have, and should have taken more inspiration from Tenkaichi
