It's a lovely story. And yes, it is about time a statue was erected in her honor. After all, she loved her people very much. She gave her all for them.

The first statue of Mary Queen of Scots is actually in the garden of Annet House in Linlithgow and was sculpted by Alan Beattie Herriot. The one beside Linlithgow Palace came along later.

@Denise Bond Not all turned against her. It was the Lords of the Congregation led by Moray who are the traitors. They used placards and banners to turn the people against her. They were gaslighting the people of Scotland with their lies. However, when she escaped Loch Levan castle, she did have supporters and gathered an army against the traitors. The traitors were ruthless in their battle for power as we saw with David Rizzio.
