0:56 - You can't make it out here, but Stage 5 was just opened in Feb 1988 but by May 1988 there was still some work going on, next to the Spur block which housed BBC Television News.

1:06 - You can just make out the window slot into the newsroom, where the news summary studio was placed right in the heart of the busy BBC newsroom. That studio would be re-fitted in the summer of 1988 and it would become the home to the Nine O'Clock News, news summaries and weekend/bank holiday news bulletins from 1988 to 1993.

+John King BBC Learning Zone did something like this with the 6pm news in 1996 when the newsreaders were Martyn Lewis and Jennie Bond

0:58 - there is the Spur block, the addition made to BBC Television Centre in the late 60s and opened in 1969 when BBC Television News moved from Alexandra Palace to Television Centre.

I was 20 on 1988, this was the year when the PM programme got its final theme tune on Radio 4, I remember Holden on PM, she is currently a member of A is for Aphra (Behn) Society according to Wikipedia, and have heard that Nicholas Witchell is due to retire in 2023. Good luck Nick!.

The 1979 to 1988 PM theme tune was my favourite, because it sounded so ridiculously retro, even during that time period. It sounds like something Kraftwerk might have come up with in about 1972. Not surprisingly, most people seem to hate it, but I love it! Here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYivpamkhreoh9k

His last report was supposed to be from Sandringham at Christmas but he appeared when King Charles was diagnosed with cancer albeit from Hong Kong for some reason!
