Actually the husband never flirted or had any feelings for this woman, li mengzhu. It was a setup from the very beginning by the father and daughter with the ultimate goal of stealing this man, guangming's research for their own pharmaceutical firm. It's not only guangming who'd suffered humiliation but also been hurt, his family was also broken up and the hurt and pain that they had to go through just because of the father's greed and her obsession with guangming. Then among other thing including flaunting having broken up a family, she stole key information about a project he'd been working on for *years* and gave it to her father who used it to both ruin him and make himself and his daughter even more wealthy. All this and she still has the gall to play victim and say 'I love you' with a straight face? Sickening. It makes you wonder at the dark twists in her psyche that she can actually justify it to herself that she is deserving of love. She's only kidding herself because at the end the father and daughter act was exposed (which should had been exposed long time ago, but then we wouldn't have this movie). I wonder how she got her degree from the University with her own project ... did she do the same thing "targeting" her professor(s) and supervisor(s) like she did to guangming ... finding them drunk and taking them home then pretending to be pregnant, etc, etc .... what a loose woman Dingxue on the other hand may not be a graduate on science but she worked at what she's good at ... a singer without "prostituting" herself to bring up a daughter as a single mother.
