Lovely looking bike that isn't it Michael - I've not ridden this latest incarnation but am chuffed they've now got a version that us shorties can ride....shame they didn't go with the twin clocks like they have on the Speed Twin 1200 and love the fact they've made the tank a bit more (entirely?) seamless on this model. Nice video once again, do keep 'em coming!

Michael, I’ve watched so many bike reviews recently as I’m wanted to get back on a bike after a gap of 8 years and I can honestly say that this is the best review I’ve seen of any bike. I love the way you talk about the bike in the walk around and show a close up of the clocks and the dive in to the menus. You’re concentrating on riding the bike and giving a brilliant voice over. The Scrambler is on my list to test ride as I personally love the style and your review has put it near the top. Well done on your superb production and it’s a very easy “subscribe” for me. 👍

Great review, your balanced comments and touches of humour are a pleasure. Before you started I thought you were never going to get on it. Until the realisation of the lower height. Seems like Truimph have perhaps listened to dealer and customer feedback. Last year I never even sat in one in the showroom as it was clear my leg was not going over. It's also good to hear from an experienced biker how far the Truimph brand has moved on.

I concur with most of what you said about the bike. I've had and loved 2 Street Scramblers but often wondered how good a 1200 version would be and this bike just about hits that mark. The longer suspension and bigger front wheel certainly give a better ride on bad roads at the expense of slightly slower steering but a small price to pay IMO and the 1200 motor is a peach. At well over 6ft, the seat height is largely irrelevant to me but it does add to the Street Scrambler feel. Like yourself I have another bike better suited to long distance high speed outings and also a pukka dirt bike so I've bought the 1200X for general running around and relaxing Weekend rides. Personally I'm not a fan of all the unnecessary riding modes and and electronic rider aids but it seems to be the way of things these days. Irrespective of what spec a bike is running it all comes down to how it rides on the road and how enjoyable it is and in that the X excels!👍

Test rode one twice last week, why twice!, because I couldn’t believe how much fun it was the first time, it has a real hooligan feel to it when giving it some, and pootles along in a very docile manner when not, the handling is light and stable, just a terrific machine, I will have one in my garage within the next two weeks (is my opinion worth listening to?, I currently have 9 bikes including a 1200 Thruxton , I have owned over 70 bikes , it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a bike, period).

I’ve now clocked up just under 500 miles on mine, trying to get it run in as quickly as possible, my original opinion was made on two test rides, have I changed my mind now that I own one?, not a bit, I remember several years ago taking a 900 Scrambler for a test ride, I remember at time really liking it, but wishing they’d put the 1200 engine in it, in a way that’s what we’ve got with the X, yes the frame and componentry are superior to the 900 but it’s dimensions are now similar compared to the XE & XC, so Triumph have basically made the bike I wished the 900 was, changes I’ll make?, tail tidy, small side pannier (there’s zero storage under the seat), I’d seriously recommend that people take one of these for a test ride, it’s a lot better than it looks on paper 👍

I agree on the exhaust, this trend to have that high exhaust is becoming Nonsense. Some aftermarket manufacturers actually make really cool exhaust for these scramblers and they are low but still not low enough to get hit by something if you go light offroading, it's a 200kg plus motorcycle, so your not going hard enduro with it anyways.

If I'm running 80 on the highway and want to crank it to 110 real quick to pass, it goes. This 1200 high torque engine has massive balls all the way through the rev range. This is NOT a bad bike. It's a bad ass bike. It just isn't suitable for off-road

@phils21807 ай бұрын
The XC was/is a DIFFERENT bike to the X, more of a cheap XE than a higher spec version of the new bike. If premium badges on a bike are important to you then I guess the X won't interest you. If they don't and you want a more road focused/capable version then you can't go wrong with a 1200 X but let's face it, none are serious off roaders.
