Pretty much memorized every line family favorite. I was lucky to show draft horses and draft mules in competition with my dad and brother for over 30 years and this movie was an inspiration really for me at least. We quot different lines often. Classic movie from my childhood

One of my all time Australian favourites. Great stuff. Tom Burlinson, Jack Thompson, Sigrid Thornton and Kirk Douglas are great. My Mum spoke to Gus Mercurio one day. He indicated a sad story to come from it was that Kirk Douglas was always complaining about never getting paid enough for playing two roles. After the last day of shooting, a stretch limo turned up. Douglas got in, never said goodbye to anyone and simply drove off. It says a lot that his first name rhymes with a word starting with the letter J.

Pity. He played such a great and likeable role with Spur.

One of many little pictures made in the 80's that studios did not think were worthless and turned around and brought home the gold at the box office.

A 80's classic. Just the beauty of the snowy mountains and the brumbies were amazing. Now here we are in 2021 and the government want to cull the grumbles

We have this on DVD in the family collection. I only watched it recently as I didn’t think it would be my sort of film but it was surprisingly good even for someone who mainly watches noir I enjoyed it. Most are Australian so not that well known other than Jack Thompson and the great Kirk Douglas obviously but I couldn’t fault any of the performances.

Australian stockmen cracked the whip in the air. It was the sound used to startle the horses to run in the direction the stockmen wanted.
