This was an incredible movie that I will not forget. A great adaptation of Banjo Paterson's poem by the same name. It get goose bumps just watching this even now.

This movie is one of the best romance and horse films that I have ever seen. I still of the original VHS tapes and the soundtrack is so beautiful. I still find it fascinating that they sent tom Burlinson and the horse Denny off the cliff and that it was shot in one take. That is a gutsy move and it is what makes the movie more authentic.

She’s a prominent Australian actress of the 80's (Sigrid Thornton) and made a name for herself in period pieces. She also starred in an 8 episode TV program called 'All The Rivers Run' (available on eBay Australia as a DVD) that aired on HBO heavily edited at the time. In the US, she did do a western called 'Paradise'. She's still working. Read up about her on the IMDB website under her name. she also has a wonderful website with ALL her work in Australia that is up to date you could google.

Here's a bit of Oz trivia - Tom Burlinson (The Man) was at the time of making Snowy River II actually the boyfriend of Nicole Kidman. She left him not long after for another actor (Vince Colosomo I think) and then made Dead Calm, was noticed by Tom Cruise and poached for Days of Thunder and the rest is history.

the leading man Tom learn't to ride a horse for the first time for this film (in only 6 weeks) he did all the stunts on the horse, good horse)

Because in Australia, at the time (the 80's), in order to guarantee box office success, big name drawcards like Kirk Douglas were needed. The stars were known in Australia, but not overseas. Disney weren't the producers of the film but they played heavily in the marketing of the product, hence Kirk's involvement. The only other American was Brian Dennehy in (SR II). In SR I, Gus Mercurio was one of Harrison's men. He lived most of his adult life in Australia, although US born & bred.

I don't take any notice of the regions because I bought a great cheap multi regional blu-ray/DVD player ages ago and swear by it. As a pensioner, I don't normally splurge on unessentials, but this has been a lifesaver for me as most of what I want comes from the US. Only cost me Aus$88 at the time. A more recent model I found here was Aus$128 at a large dept store in Australia. It's a LASER BD1000 and I just checked on eBay Oz, it's $100 with free postage. Does the trick. Never need to worry which region your DVDs come from. As for your description, PAL is Australian, like Region 4, EU import probably means European Union import, so guess they have the same region as us.

+aude villedieu Are you in France? I know here in the U.S. it's at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. It's readily available. I'm sure there's copies on eBay, as well. Worth the effort to buy! :-)
