"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Suit Trial (1958), The Man in The Suit. Unknowingly is trying to persuade the fandom that he should do his duty, and, to impress them, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become the incident, the destroyer of people in suits.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."

Let's be real. This is not an analog horror this just a 'hyper realistic blood' creepypasta. Since episode 1 to 12, there's no plot progression. It's just the man in the suit bitting the actors while toho still keep him? What's really bothers me, people keep praising it like it's the best thing in the world and the creator is talented when he's not doing anything; he hires a team to make all of the art the found footage segment. In my opinion, godzilla analog horror can actually work if it's done well. Suitmation trials is okay. But I think among the others, the invasion of godzilla is the only godzilla analog horror. It's not stack in the same place, it's trying to give us something new. The first part of the series is awful but the latest episode, you can see the creator of the invasion of godzilla is actually improving and fix his mistake which Unknowingly doesn't. He got tons of criticism to make his series better but he somehow doesn't listen to it. Instead he making fun of it. And let's not forget his toxic fanbase. Other great godzilla analog horror/found footage is: Living with monsters and godzilla 8mm

I think the overall story's fine if a bit corny. The idea the Godzilla films were pretty much secretly snuff films is corny to me, especially the bit of revisionist history with King Kong vs Godzilla but I don't hate the series. But no one made him take the suit off? The obviously expensive suit, no one made him take it off before he fused with it?

@@patatedouce6774 Well, I am glad you pointed this out, because I want to talk about Godzilla. Godzilla in movies has never been particularly watched by a huge crowd. For some reason, we are so bad at watching Godzilla that a Japanese soap opera with Godzilla in it is given the highest praise ever. Godzilla’s status as this character that can’t work with humans and it’s just about monster fights and other stuff has reached a point where people are not really fans of Godzilla, but fans of the silhouette. While Godzilla the character is insanely versatile, the silhouette I refer to is a version of Godzilla that hits all of the beats that G-Fans care about in some manner. The truth of the matter is that The Man in the Suit is built from this silhouette. It’s not *really* Godzilla, but a version of the suit in the real world that is used for secret snuff film violence. The main argument I am making is built off of this, which leads to the video. But the full argument I have is simply that it’s not really a Godzilla work. It doesn’t resemble any Godzilla stuff, any Godzilla works, nothing. There is a reason to why Unknowingly had (allegedly) lost his team beyond poor payment; it was the *same* thing as every other analog horror. There is no getting around the reality that it doesn’t have anything special to offer, and the creator doesn’t care to deviate anything beyond making the same few episodes, repackaged. It’s not very fun to watch. Also, thank you for the compliment. More videos are on the way, but I have to think about what I want to post.

Tbf, the thing that could make this series interesting is if the man in the suit slowly becomes an actual giant monster that would eventually become a threat to Japan, and that to explain why it wasn't directly killed off by the japanese military is that it would'v adapted godzilla's swimming abilities to hide in the dephts of the ocean. Finally, the man in the suit would become actual godzilla and wreck japan, which would require the japanese army to fight it and eventually create a weapon known as "the oxygen destroyer" to finally kill it. Recreating the events of the original film with differences ofc. Basically, bringing fiction to reality in a pretty twisted way and something that would fit better in godzilla media.
@pugprollisus2854
@pugprollisus2854 Ай бұрын
But of course, this will never happen and the chance of this happening was already thrown away with the introduction of the other monsters.

Note on the King Kong actor name thing, he actually did note that, and he said that the reason he thought to do that was because sure he thought if it was realistic, it would be scary. However, he then noted that he realized this wasn’t the case in an interview with Quinnamon
@obamakiske
@obamakiske Ай бұрын
I mean the story from the start isn’t realistic, so I genuinely do not know what went through his head.
@Superpowerinc
@Superpowerinc Ай бұрын
I mean, I think the reason many people like it is not just because of Godzilla, but because despite its flaws, it perfectly executes what it’s trying to do, and that is telling a story of tragedy and of what the nuclear bomb did back in the day, which the original Godzilla from 1954 was also made based on that, but it takes a bit more of a direct approach with this one. Also, like you said he is just a kid, and kids do stupid things (trust me, I’ve been there), so a lot of the criticism given here is fair, though unlike a certain other creator who made a series about a killer who paints his victims, Unknowingly at least is accepting the criticism he’s getting, which I’m sure a lot of that ended up resulting in us getting the Ghidorah Suit Incident video we got, but that’s just me. And as an analog horror creator myself, I can understand a lot of that criticism
@Superpowerinc
@Superpowerinc Ай бұрын
@@obamakiske And that was also noted in Quinnamon’s video as despite being not realistic, it has a lot of good to it, either that or they’re just a big Godzilla fan 😂. But the point is, The Man In The Suit in this case is more Substance Over Style, which I think actually fits this very well

I was even thinking on having a tragic villain (in my action indie show) that'll be a bit similar to man in the suit but the difference is they'll be no studio, no other monsters but a victim forced by its curse suit(made by a satanic ritual) changing his body from a normal man in a suit slowing lossing his voice turning into a rapid animal, changing his size and appearance(I know this still sounds dumb but its honeslty a lot better idea than the man in the suit)

Orientalist? Would this argument be even made if the horror was about american series and american movie monster? I don't think so. Also not mentioning the names of real life actors is a good thing cause these are fictonal events and despite that it would be more stupid and risky to made up stuff about real people and could've backfired even more to the author. When it comes to costumes of course they would be different from the actuall real ones cause if not the events presented in the storyline wouldn't take place. With the campyness it is in most analog horrors, the poorly rendered images and doodlels are usually the part of this VHS stylised genera and honestly in the man in the suit they set up the tone pretty good.
@obamakiske
@obamakiske Ай бұрын
@@thestone6324 Orientalism is specifically focused on asian countries or foreign countries being fetishized and Otherized by the west, so I am confused by this argument here. Unknowingly is the person who named Shoichi Hirose, and the rest of the implications do the legwork. It is entirely possible to use real people in fiction without othering them, and real people in fiction can still make a story move along. The Man in the Suit has not moved along since it’s first episode, still meandering in the same places. It is entirely possible for the visuals to look good. But they’re not! VHS footage and old footage can be replicated properly, but the Man in the suit doesn’t do that. And camp is not poorly rendered images.
