So glad to be a new(ish) fan during this time, especially an American. The resurgence is upon us and I'm looking forward to watching unfold. I've met one single American who watches MotoGP other than myself. Can't wait for that to change.

It's a shame . The USA has had some of the greatest champions since the 70s..How they're not household names beats me ...recently I was talking to someone from Shreveport louisiana and they'd never heard of freddie Spencer..unbelievable really

A great interview! Dan comes across as a genuine guy with a mission. Driven and communicative and knows when to listen! I look forward to what he and his team come up with. (You could start with the website, videofeed/timing feed it needs a lot of work and it's the MAIN way I CAN access the sport).

Great interview and insights from Dan. Looking forward to the changes. Down in Australia we now get the TNT commentary .... brilliant !! Kieth Harry a point for the next show. Trials in the WSBK at Philip Island yesterday .... 1 second off the MotoGP times !!!!! What if they end up this weekend equalling the MotoGP times ???

The reason motorcycle fans dont go to Silverstone is pure & simple, PRICE. I'm going to the French MotoGP this year & including petrol, ferry, camping & a numbered Honda grandstand ticket it is still £45 cheaper than going to silverstone for the weekend. Silverstone have their priorities wrong. They don't want motorcyclists there as evidenced by them cancelling ALL motorcycle track days for 2024 & forcing BSB to host the opening round in Navarra. If they can't be bothered to make an effort to promote the event, let MSV stage it at Donnington.
@gymnutrition77949 ай бұрын
It’s £110 for 3 days which is not bad really, granted you could spend that on food if you don’t take your own
@penguin53849 ай бұрын
No it's not price (we get ripped off for all 'premier' sport in this country) . Silverstone is a car track. Always has been , always will be. My personal main gripe with the place is how removed you are from the track . It's akin to standing on the hard shoulder of a motorway and trying to watch something on the hard shoulder of the opposite carriageway. And that is the best case at that track.
@olemoto9 ай бұрын
It’s a bargain compared to most other sports. F1 is £500 odd for the weekend and a 90 minute Premier League match doesn’t cost too far off. Three days of MotoGP for £105 is excellent value in this day and age.
@olemoto9 ай бұрын
Also, MSVR own Navarra and want to spark some interest in Spain.
@davidtomkins42429 ай бұрын
It’s £90 to sit on the grass or an uncovered seat - possibly in the rain - on race day.

It'd take British riders for us to follow and cheer on to make a greater amount of people to go to Silverstone and watch moto gp. Also it needs to be at somewhere like Donnington where we can get closer and see more of the track.

I have been watching this for a few minutes. The Silverstone race last year had dismal turnouts from fans. My honest opinion about the reasons why are as follows. The access is difficult, the facilities for camping are expensive for very poor service, toilets and showers were lame, the prices are all super high. within the track limits you pass through security which is I suppose needed but it took a fairly long time and the numbers were low. The main other reason is the cost of the tickets and the cost of foods and drinks, £ 7.00 for a beer, £ 14.00 for a meal, most the stands are not covered and generally just a not suitable for the UK shitty weather. If Silverstone wants to make money they should place a lower ticket price and cap food prices to manageable rates and have more competition. Free market enterprise, plus have more variety. Another point is the merchandise was all stupidly expensive, all these factors outweigh the live spectacle over the TV viewing where you pay 30 pounds a month and can see every race from the comfort of home. I went last year as a gift from my son, but if I were to pay I would only go one day as everything is just way too expensive and also slightly crappy for the money. I believe more people like triple for a reasonable entry fee, and reasonable food and drinks would see a much better show all over. I am sure UK is likely one of the most expensive venues for fans, the USUAL UK RIP OFF in play.

The Silverstone event needs a lot of work to attract a bigger crowd. compared to the F1 event it’s just boring between the track action who wants to sit and watch a load of people going round on pillion rides for an hour? Race day if even if you include the warmup you only get about 2hrs on track action that’s not a lot for the ticket price. They need to run more support races maybe even a couple of BSB races or something they could run just the superbikes.

As an older American, this is what i see. Bikes in general are so expensive that the younger audience can't afford them and don't have it in their blood like we older folks. The price of everything is too much and ball games of all types dominate the airwaves and are free.

Tickets are too expensive accommodations too expensive and that's in Thailand. Imagine other country not free live TV anymore in Australia. That's the best way to promote MotoGP.

I'll admit when I heard Dan got the job I thought, here we go more show than racing. While that did happen with the stupid parade, when the riders would rather be doing whatever they do pre race, and Moto 3 and 2 need on the day warm ups (weather and tracks change over the weekend shock horror), he does seem genuinely passionate about the sport and more to the point intelligent enough to go well that was silly let's drop that. Was also glad to hear him big upping the 2 and 3 class (stupid names btw. Tell any 350cc, 250cc, 125cc, 80cc that their world championships don't count because they were on smaller bikes). My biggest worry was hearing Carlo at Phillip Island talk about 2 and 3 being support classes, rather than recognising they're world championships in their own right.

Regards to keith talking about the grey hairs , of which im one . ( a no hair actually 😊) i passed my test in 1976 and loads of my mates did too. We're still riding the bloody things. When we stop at a cafe and others roll up it always makes me smile as people take their lids off and theres an old fella like me stood there . Anyway my point is , theyve made it so hard to pass your test , if i was 17 again would i bother? . The lack of all these people on bikes has got to be killing attendances both visually and physical.....Silverstone? They should have mortgage brokers in attendance, that way you can remortgage you house and get some dough together for meeting . Took my two hungry grandsons a while back.jeez it was eye watering. On the other hand i took them to Austria last year . Totally different. Also took them to Barcelona round. Family ticket for 4 in main grandstand about €150...not even going to say how much the silverstone tickets were , its embarrassing...

Silverstone is the wrong venue because the action is too far away from the fans. Brands would be perfect if it met the safety standard. Phillip Island is the perfect circuit for MotoGP. Close enough for the fans to get up close to the action and safe enough to race on. Plus being the fastest and most exciting track on the calendar. We need new circuits like that.

I am a 72 year old American who has been listening and watching motorsports for most of my life. I live on a budget and I can't afford the cost of going to racing. I can't even afford to watch it on the TV or internet but for now I watch it on networks in countries where they don't charge a fee but that could play out at anytime. Everything is being priced out of most people's range. I guess a lot of people put it on their credit cards and make payments on it. If you want to fill seats bring the prices down. Do a better job of regulating the cost of racing. Racing is losing the younger generation. Hell I don't know what needs to be done.

Now that was a good insight into the new Dorna. Moto GP is facing tough times and having to face massive challenges head on. I’m so sick and tired off English fans going on and on about the cost of going to Silverstone and how Donington would be much better because you are nearer the action. That’s why Donington cannot run Moto GP because it’s not safe for 300bhp plus bikes there is not enough run off at so many corners plus everyone seems to forget what a nightmare it is to get in and out of the place and it can’t happen because in turns East Midland Airport into a car park for 5 miles in every direction when you get more than 2000 people in there.

AS an American and long time GP500, WSB, MGP fan, the American audience doesn't fully grasp the European athletes. American athletes are giant "meat eaters". We don't equate the MGP racers, smaller in stature, pleasant demeanor, as "bad ass". I agree, it's our loss because the masses don't know what they are missing, but they aren't exposed to it. That's on Dorna. US advertisers sold Zima but they can't sell MGP? Come on.

I usually rather enjoy keith ranting off into left field to talk about some aspect of the sport no one has ever thought of. However this thime it would have been nice if he had let the guest answer questions rather then just rattling off his own suggestions rapid fire. Kinda ironic that the Yank was barely able to get a word in. AND yeah it's all corporate jingo but it's the only window we get into the minds behind the decisions being made about our beloved sport...
@uptherevs6799 ай бұрын
Everything that is wrong with f1 is the corporate take over and control, righ5 down to the stewards making desicions after the flag, im sad to say that moto gp is going th3 same way, stop charging 200 quid for a ticket at silverstone where it is the worst spectator track ever and aidiences would increase, you dont need a yanky doodle dandy coming in and giving all this guff. 😢
