Tommi Tomasson’s all-American burger joint is so legendary in Iceland, it ousted McDonald’s from the country. Experience a collision of traditions and tastes in Season 2 of Culture Trip’s award-winning series Hungerlust, as chefs serve up stuffed mussels in Istanbul, Cuban coffee in Miami, all-American burgers in Reykjavik, sushi in Puglia, insect tapas in Berlin, patisserie in Bangkok and LA flavours in Las Vegas.
Proud locals open their kitchens and communities, revealing incredibly diverse, culturally important and community-driven dishes, all against the backdrop of some of the world’s most vibrant and culinarily rich cities. Season 2 explores how food can embody a collision between cultures, mindsets and ideas. We look at dishes in which East meets West, foods influenced by migration, future trends and the power of travel. Join us to meet the unique personalities of the chefs bringing their ideas to life through plates of food.
Satisfy your appetite for the unknown with Hungerlust in association with The United Explorer Card. Stream the full series on culturetrip.travel/3JhQkG

@Sir Francis Drake hope you don't reckon American burgers are any good, tasted better beef in second world countries, buns oversweetened to fuck and the endless amount of slop they think belongs in a burger. Best burgers are found in Britain and New Zealand if you know the right places, talking actual proper burgers not food chain rubbish. Proper untampered angus beef, fresh lettuce, fresh Kentish onions and tomato and unsweetened buns. Simple and clean. Scandinavians make good stuff too when they leave the "gourmet" shite out.
@user-ue1tm5iq5u
@user-ue1tm5iq5u 3 жыл бұрын
@Sir Francis Drake a good fresh burger needs neither of those things, pickles are added for the vinegar content to add flavour to tasteless cheap meat as is sauce - a decent burger straight off the barbie needs neither as the juices are more than enough. You wouldn't put ketchup on a good steak, same with a good burger. With quality fresh ingredients, less is more.

Americans tend to turn food into garbage. Plastic cheese, cheap buns, a thin tasteless piece of beef spiced up with some artificial flavors and a buttload of sauce. Similar stories for Pizza, Beer, whatever. Burger king is somewhat decent, but it is still mass produced garbage, usually produced by unmotivated and overworked teens and or people that are sort of stuck in their job - wishing they could do something else. Some corporate fatcat squeezing wages, cutting costs... These are burgers made with love.

Love how honest he was about the drinking on the job. Seriously it's just apart of cook culture to do this job under the influence. Part of the mystic is to be living such an unstable lifestyle but be so professional and we'll kept in the kitchen no matter if you're drunk or hungover or even doped out or dope sick. It like a pirate crew kinda like Bourdain said. I'm glad he became sober though, I just thought it was cool he didn't hide the drinking.

Steven Ruiz, drinking on the job is sloppy. It's not fair to your co workers, you are NOT on a pirate ship, for the most part, I never was. And I'm Bourdain's age, I was working in Boston when he was in P-Town. He fell in with a bad crowd, gravitated to them his whole career, and was suicidal THE WHOLE TIME. So. We're here, and he's not. @@user-lv6rn9cf8m no, that's not quite right. The Icelandic McDonalds franchise closing was a result of the crash. In the 2008 crash, the devalued króna made it too expensive to import ingredients. The US forces left in 2006, two years before the crash. The crash was particularly bad in Iceland because of the riskiness of the banks - they owed more than what Iceland, a country of 360,000 people could pay.

Effectively McDonalds did it to themselves, with most of their produce being imported, tariffs increased by an insane amount during the 2008 crisis. Consequently their business model didn't make sense and they basically had to leave. There is still a McDonalds clone restaurant in Iceland run by the same people who had the rights to the franchise here, but with local produce. I can't say Tommi has the best burger in Iceland but you can always walk in and get a good burger every time, they have great consistency in their product.

as soon as i get sober, which unfortunately, is gonna be another month or two, seeing how i must take a 2 week "vacation" in order to fully go through withdrawls, i will without a doubt start going to the gym every morning at 5:00 o'clock in the morning again, and get my shit together. this man just gave me so much hope and inspiration! im saving this video for future reference, in my lets start living playlist! to be watched once i get the itch and will too actually go for it again, after a 3 year long relapse of hell!!:(:(!! :)

Non of my grandparents are vegan and they''re in their 80s. Other factors balance in, total nutrition, other things like how much veggies and fruit they have. The water and air quality makes a difference too. Most of all, his passion and outlook.
