this game is where a street vendor would give a child a cookie with a shape, and if they can successfully cut out the shape with a toothpick, they get another cookie for free also if you pay attention to the show, youll notice 2 random players confidently walking up to triangle before anyone else has even picked a door. that means some people figured out the game just by the doors alone and never needed the North Korean girl's intel

Some friendly explanation to help you guys. The cookie is called “달고나” Dalgona. Its made out of sugar. It was a very popular snack from street stalls in the 90s and 80s. Its mostly caramelized sugar. And there was a game with the stall vendors that if you are able to cut out the shape out of the cookie perfectly preserved you got another one for free. The vendors would use different moulds in different shapes and stamp them on the cookie. A few of the shapes you saw in the game they played. Triangle is the easiest one. The pickpocket didnt use her knife but had the easiest shape anyone could do. Using saliva melted the sugar so you can just take out the shape in perfect condition as you predicted. The new male character with glasses was reading a note hidden in his bread. It wasnt a pill or sth they had to poop out as you know now. But it was a note as we saw. And after reading that note he went straight to the triangle row. So you can think of that as you want. The pickpocket when spying hiding in the air vents spying on the kitchen smelled the sugar. She didnt guess the game and didnt know the game. But she knew Sang-Woo knew something and followed the same row as she did. You guys were spot on with the crazy girl helping the thug Deok-Su because she knows he is strong and being on his side has advantages. And damn Im impressed by the sharp lady to figure out the guy who got shot was the staff that was suspicious of the cop. Many thought it was someone else or just a random guy. So our undercover cop upgraded from Circle to Squads. Loved your reaction, hope this helps! Keep it coming boys and girls!

The gang already finished the series so its fine to say this, since Roshi asked "what do people do to apply for these jobs?" regarding the red guards : one of my favorite theories around the show is that if the chosen players have picked red card instead of blue in "ddakji" (the preliminary game back in the train station) they have a chance to be guards instead of game participants. Both jobs require order and obeying of rules, and gets killed for it if not followed. Theyre pretty much parallel factions

The show called them cookies, buy they’re more of a sugar candy that’s very fragile and easily breakable. Used to have a lady who’d make and sell them in front of my elementary school. If you could carve out the shape without breaking them, she’d give us another one for free. Considering they were 200 won a pop at the time (about 20 cents) it was a really popular snack for us. If you pay 500 won, though, she’d make a huge chunk of it instead of a thin piece, but you didn’t get a shape, so that was it. It came down to whether to have a little bit but have a chance to win another, or have a big piece, but that would be it.

This series gave me so much anxiety yet I couldn’t turn away. A rollercoaster of emotions with tears. I usually look up the plots and endings of series/movies on Wikipedia, if the storylines are lagging in getting to the point. This is one of those shows where I never felt tempted to look up spoilers. I just trusted the development of each episode blindly because it was well done. Highly recommend 🤣😅

Blue Card means you're going to be a player (blue-green jacket) and Red Card means you're going to be a facilitator (pink costume). I need to do a few more, slower, re-watches of the scene in episode 1 where they are doing a playback on the big screen to the group. From what I saw, all of the ones that they highlighted individually were players and they _did_ all have a blue one but then when they expanded and you see a collage of the players, you start to see some people have the red one. I'm not yet sure if they show any of the faces of those with red squares. 🤔

As a kid in Canada, we played rainbow parachute, dodgeball, simon says, elastics (where you jump on and around an elastic band and lift it higher when you succeed), typical jumprope songs, steal the scarves (two bases, each player gets three, goal is to steal as many as possible while protecting your own) Poi balls (tennis balls on a string that you spin), pear ball, bulldog (1 tagger on a line and the class has to reach the other side), 007 (reload, shield, shoot), freeze tag, and of course hopscotch. The difference in children’s games from country to country is super interesting to me. My goodness, imagine an international squid game… If anyone is reading this, could you share some games you played as a kid that you think are nostalgic or unusual?
