The decision for them to go on their separate ways is both heartbreaking and beautiful. Mando wants what’s best for Grogu, for him to get the proper Jedi training he needs and deep down Grogu knows that. But also deep down, Din doesn’t want to leave Grogu because of their bond, like father and child. So Grogu asked permission first from Din, if this is what he wants. Now Din could’ve been selfish and not allow Grogu to go with Luke and instead raise him himself, but he truly cares and loves Grogu so much like a son, that he is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice of letting him go to have a much safer and happier life. If that’s not true, beautiful, parental love, then I don’t know what is. :) But it’s heartbreaking to see them say their goodbyes, and it’s even more heart shattering that Grogu gets to see and touch Din’s face for the first, and possibly last time. For Grogu to see Din’s face, it’s forever set in stone. Din gets to see Grogu with his own eyes, without his helmet, without having his creed and morals dictate him from caring Grogu without a helmet for the first time in so long, but possibly also the last. For them to have that first small, physical, skin to skin contact with each other and just by seeing their reaction, from Din closing his eyes under Grogu’s slightest touch/graze and smiling, to struggling not to cry/break down in order to stay strong, and Grogu making cooing sounds and hugging Din’s leg the same way he did in episode 8 of season 1. You can really tell that these two don’t want to separate. But Din told Grogu not to be afraid, assuring the little green womprat that he won’t end up alone again, no matter how far away they are from each other. Also, for Grogu to press his hand on Din’s cheek, it echoes Din’s words back to him that he too won’t end up alone. No matter how far away they are from each other, they will always be a family, they will always be a clan of two. :) We went on this extraordinary journey between these two characters of rival sides ( Mandalorian and Jedi), bond like parent and child, helping each other leave this darkness of loneliness, becoming a small family. We saw their interactions, their struggles, the obstacles that they have to overcome, the friends, allies, and enemies they made along the way, we instantly connect with them, we don’t want anything bad happen to them, we don’t want them to separate. But now it comes to an end with a bittersweet farewell, possibly opening up new beginnings and opportunities for our characters. But who knows, Mando promise that they will each other again. But we’ll just have to wait and see, and I’ll be waiting for what comes next for all of our characters. But for now, goodbye little Grogu. May the force be with you, and this is the way. :)

This had me crying right with you. I don't have Disney+ so I can't watch the show but KZbin reactions does help me a lot so thanks for that. I loved seeing Luke come back for Grogu it's so sweet I do hope he takes care of the little guy and we do see some of him in season 3 it's sad that Mando had too let him go but it's not going too be forever hopefully.

Well... this is Luke in his prime. He’s obviously older and more conflicted in the sequels due to what he’s had to deal with. Still the same Luke though!

This episode had me go from sheer terror and anxiety.....to pure joy (and a fist pump or two)....to gut-wrenching grief, all in the span of about 10 minutes (maybe?). And THEN they drop R2 in the mix? SERIOUSLY!? Great reaction, dear! Your emotions were OUR emotions!

the last 10 minutes of this episode brought more joy to many star wars fans then the entire sequel trilogy

I sensed a great disturbance in the Force: as if millions of people cried out in joy after years of disappointment and bitterness. I feel something wonderful has happened.

your not the only one who got emotional. tons of fans all over youtube, men and woman broke into tears of joy at seeing luke at the height of jedi powers, and then that shot of grogu putting his hand on dins face and the taking off of the helmet, melted everyones heart. IT in my opinion was cinematic masterpiece of star wars and Dave and Jon hit a major home run with this finale. im 45 yo and i had tears of joy and of sadness on this episode.

Grogu is 50 years old. He spent the first 20 years of his life in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. His family is first and foremost the Jedi Order. Luke coming to get him is the only thing that could have happened. Nothing else would have felt right, no matter how much we as fans wanted it. Grogu is a very powerful Force-sensitive being. Eventually he would have to learn to wield the Force, Luke said he would never really be safe until he learned to master his abilities. Din is not fit to raise a Force-sensitive child. Also I don't think he could live long enough to do so. Grogu is already 50 years old and yet he's still an infant. Grogu is better off with Luke. The real Luke, not SJW Luke from the Sequel Trilogy.

In retrospect the show pretty much told us to not get too attached to baby Yoda, but even if we did Mando who represents every good parent make sure his little bundle of joy grows up in a safe environment living a good life. Ideally this season finale shows the beauty of being a good parent and of course succeeding in parenthood with the child getting into a good college. I'm pretty sure all the moms love this episode of the Mandalorian, while crying with joy.

Did you notice the Battlestar Galactica references? Those Dark Troopers were Cylons for sure. The launch of the Tie Fighter was from Galactica Vipers lunch too (Viper as the Galactica's fighter ships, not the Pedro Pascal from GOT hehehe). And also when Bo-Katan lands the ship, was like Katee Sackhoff's Starbuck landing a Viper. That episode was a clear Katee Sackhoff homage to Galactica. And I loved! ♥

Next season: Bo-Katan goes up against Din Djarin for leadership of Mandalore. It will pit the Night Owls against Din's order, the Children of the Watch -- Politics vs Religion. Din Djarin will want nothing to do with it and abandons the order (and Mandalore) to rejoing Grogu, essentially becoming like Boba Fett -- an outcast.
