For the record, the reason why the anime is stretching so much is because at the time: Oda was taking lots of breaks so they had to slow down to not catch up, the team was also working on a movie (One Piece Gold) and Dragon Ball Super started to air, meaning even less animators that could work on One Piece.

This shit broke me. We had an absolute cluster of new characters in Dressrosa that I couldn't keep up with. Senor Pink fit into the whole "just another subordinate" trope for me that anything before this went completely under the radar. ... and then BOOM. A backstory I never expected from a character I never cared for. Similar thing happened with Corazon. We knew he wasnt in the current story and knew he died from everything Trafalgar says... still didnt stop it from cutting deep...

Some of these backstories always bring me to the verge of tears. Since I got married and had a daughter, these familial deaths/tragedy hit me harder or differently. Maybe both. The thought of losing either is terrible, but both? Man. Also you lasted a lot longer than I did when it came to watching. I got so sick of how every battle and moment gets stretched passed its limits. I went purely to reading after the Marineford arc when Luffy ran a 10k and a triathalon to get from the bay to the execution platform. Those dang sandals slapping against rock and concrete still haunt me to this day.....

After watching these I have a whole new respect for Senor Pink. I can't imagine how it feels to lose your son and spouse. As Bellamy goes I know he's a very prideful man and who has Stockholm syndrome but no matter what he has to see that he can't trust Doflamingo but idk hopefully everything will sort itself out soon. About Bellamy, the way I interpret it really is that Bellamy fully understands he is in the wrong and he is stuck between a rock and hard place He rather let Luffy be the one to take him out then and there rather than rebel against Doflamingo. Maybe because he lacks confidence in Luffy to defeat Doflamingo, or maybe he simply doesn't want Doflamingo to have the pleasure of killing him himself, remember he was begging luffy to do the job instead. There is also something to be said about loyalty. Obviously I agree that loyalty from Bellamy at this point is absolutely not justified, however some people will take their convictions with them to the grave despite it making no practical sense. Perhaps in Bellamys mind if he fights luffy now and is defeated he can be satisfied that he remained loyal to his convictions, and if luffy also happens to defeat Doflamingo afterwards that would sort of 'liberate' him. Its easy to write off peoples motivations as simply misinformed or stupid, but human psychology is allot more nuanced than that I think. Obviously these are fictional characters though and I could be over-thinking it, haha.
