I can JUST remember Mansfield Colliery being there.. the headstock demolition was apparently in June 1989, so I'd have just turned 3 that month, so it must be one of my earliest memories- the headstocks being there, then not being there. I also remember the bridge over Pump Hollow Road coming out of the colliery, my dad took me onto it at some point in the very early 90s (as well as walking around the abandoned colliery site, a few years before it was redeveloped), it would have been demolished not long after that. There's still a few old colliery buildings around, incorporated into the industrial estate where it used to be. One building was only demolished in the last few years. I used that industrial estate in the evenings when I was learning to drive in 2006/7 as it was quiet and there was nobody around.

Stumbled on this today. My late father was a fitter (engineer) at Crown Farm, my eldest brother 80 years old now, a Forman. He work after the closures on the decommissioning for many years. Very nostalgic thanks mate !

My Dad worked at Rufford and Clipstone during 60's and 70's. The photograph shown of a bridge which was in situ before the in fill you describe seems to be the track that led to Rufford over the golf course? Very interesting video. I remember as a child carrying a transistor radio on the morning that President Kennedy was assassinated walking to meet my dad who had been on nights at Rufford. Sorry just reminiscing

I live in New England, and there are SO MANY old track beds that have been converted into cycle paths, including one in my own neighborhood! I am super inspired to find out more, and if you ever come to the Boston, MA area, let me know! We have loads of old track bed and former industrial sites! From what I've seen of Manchester, it's kinda like New England tried to copy your North.

Hiya again Anthony, just found your new video on KZbin and again, even though there wasn't much to see sadly, it was nice to learn the history about the area. I know the area and colliers well myself so it was interesting to see what was left. Maybe for the next visit in the area, could you possibly visit the site of the old Clipstone colliery headstocks site, I remember going there a couple of years ago and got some great photos, but sadly you can't get very close because of the double high fences around it, but I'm sure you'll be able to fly your drone over the area so that people can see it closely. And while your in the area, have you ever visited a place called Vicars County Park? I believe that used to be a colliery too? I've not had chance to visit it myself due to my illness not being too great so if I go anywhere I've got to have someone with me, but my sister said that maybe in the summer she'll take me up there as it looks like a nice place. On another note, it's nice to see that lady luck always shines on you for good weather lol 😂 when you go on these walks, wish I had your luck lol 😂 anyway just being sarcastic as usual, it stops me from worrying about my health issues and takes my mind of it too, at least I can still have a laugh 😂. Oh I've thought of another old Railway Walk you maybe able to add to your list at some point? It's in Chesterfield, and it's called the Old Brampton Branch Line Walk, which starts at Chesterfield Railway Station and goes through the bottom part of the town centre, goes through Queens Park, crosses over the road and heads up to a place called Robinsons factory which used to be one of the biggest employers in the Chesterfield area and then once you arrive at the Morrisons supermarket you have come to the end of the line. It's very interesting and I've done it a few times myself in the past, once you come out of Queens Park, if you take a quick detour to the right of Boythorpe Road, you come to a roundabout and you enter another part of the old Brampton Branch line which would of gone into the old Gas Works, there is a plaque on the wall telling you what it was, which is interesting, sadly the gas works have gone now and it's an old lidl supermarket which is closed and a mecca bingo Hall now. Anyway when you can have a look on the Internet about it, and see what you think? In our Tourist information Centre next to the Crooked Spire Church, you can pick up a free leaflet about the walk if your interested? Anyway sorry for the long message, hope you've not fallen asleep reading it? Lol 😂 looking forward to seeing more of your interesting videos soon. All the best from. Devon. Mike.

It's funny i went under the line in Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago and wondered about that. I'll look into it. I should do a little bit on Clipstone Headstocks too, even just a short drone film. As fir the weather, its been wet this year so far :(

clipstone area was a network of lines linking all the collieries together to find these you really need to look carefully as they are really well hidden or have become a footpath the one you haven't yet done goes from clipstone to rainworth yet the bed stops just short of the colliery google maps still show buildings on the site but upon visiting I found work to be ongoing of removing every trace
