This is a rare and esoteric practice. Not many people have the actual authorization. There are several different variants of Dorje Drollo with significantly different mantras. I have four distinct transmissions and use the Dudjom Tersar mantra and practice text of this extraordinarily important deity, which took some decades to get. My advice is simple: get an empowerment of ANY Padmasambhava and do the famous Twelve Syllable Mantra, or the longer Skull Garland mantra, or both. This of course requires tantric vows, which are SERIOUS. Without a SPECIFIC empowerment of Dorje Drollo, learning a Dorje Drollo mantra is not useful. You need an actual connection / empowerment to do this heavy practice. Best wishes.

@wcangel Wow, thank you for all of this. Actually, i have had a transmission (not empowerment) of a Dudjom Tersar Dorje Drolo sadhana at the Odiyana Institute and have attended their annual practice several times. I have the daily practice of HH Dudjom Rinpoche with the 18 syllable mantra. But i understand and appreciate your caution. I just asked because i can't make out all the syllables in your video--but greatly enjoy the deep beauty of it--so--thank you still very much for that 🙏!
