James Bash See that's bullshit. There will never be the "next Meryl Streep". Like Katharine Hepburn for example, when Streep came along, people said "Meryl Streep is the new Katharine Hepburn". There will never be another Hepburn, or another Streep or another Blanchett for that matter. Each actress has a different quality/style/technique that makes them who they are. Saying that Blanchett is the "next Meryl Streep" is practically saying that her method of acting is the exactly the same as Meryl's. Because of this, you can never compare one actress to another.

James Bash You missed his point. She's not the "next" anyone, nor was Meryl Streep the "next" anyone. They're their own icon or legend, in their own, unique way for particular reasons besides and beyond just being acclaimed or popular. Blanchett is not the next anyone. For one, her singular career can't really be compared to anyone else's because it's not quite like anyone else's. Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, etc, all had or have very singular and varied careers. Like Connor Jones indicated above, and although acclaimed names have already been thrown out by the press and critics many times, no one else will actually be "next Cate Blanchett" for that very reason, which will also apply to them if they fulfill their potential and have a long, respected career.

You know that's a good idea. I listened to Carol on Audio in KZbin. It was really good. To be honest before Carol, the only Movie I saw her in was The Talented Mr. Ripley although I saw her in Blue Jasmine. She was such a Pain in the butt however you couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

I have seen so many of Cate's movies it is hard to pick a favorite. I do agree the Blue Jasmine character was a pain in the butt but I did feel sorry her also.
