Thank you so much for this video. I am from the Gaspe Coast of Quebec, 59 years old and living by myself on my father's farm. I want to start using the land to start a small garden. It is a dream to I've a simple healthy life. This is so informative and encouraging.

+fallenangels62 Yes I am next year I will be selling at the farmer's market (hopefully) I would say start perfecting your growing and start small no need to quit your day job until you already have the business part/growing and is stabilized. Good luck if you are pursuing market gardening!

+fallenangels62 I have roughly 1/5 acre growing space, i have had people steal produce but it's not any considerable amount, squirrels racoons etc are my main threats. I'm almost positive there are no licenses required to sell seeds at least for small time growers, as for selling seeds it most likely will be a very small percentage of your income at farmer's market. At least in my climate we start farmer's market later in the season so very little people will buy seeds cause it will be too late, but yes selling started plants in the spring will be a big hit. If you want seeds to become a larger percentage of your sales try growing hard to find heirlooms or specialty crops, and try to do online as much as possible. (make a youtube channel that is the easiest way to sell directly to people) I know why seed selling is very appetizing I've looked into it a lot, much profit to be made but selling seeds is considerably harder than selling produce.

Pay attention to the foot traffic advice. You start getting older and hurt your foot, you'll never get better if you have to walk all the time to make a living. I know from experience. I've been trying to heal from a minor bruise for months.
