He is too funny...trying to pretend that he didn't see her. He almost missed out on his chance to talk with her. She's not going to stand idly by to wait for him to carry on a conversation with her. His concubines would relish in his attention/they would wait like idiots until he's ready to give them a morsel. Shiyi is different/that's why he loves her. He created an excuse to continue their conversation. It's funny he totally forgot that she was the one that dealt with the moldy rice incident...lol I'm loving seeing them spending time together even if it's superficial. The fact that he's trying to get her to confess her involvement in the embroidery shot is hilarious. He really wants her to trust him. Lianfang is a stick in the mud. She is forever causing problems. If she didn't interrupt their conversation then Shiyi would've had the opportunity to tell him the truth. The look that Shiyi gave her was fierce. If looks could kill...lol She is finally done with her antics. She's been putting up with Lianfang's schemes for far too long. When Shiyi walked away he couldn't keep his eyes off of her. Lianfang had to step in his field of view in order to get him to pay attention to her. He was trying really hard to get away from her. She needs to catch a hint. This man doesn't care about her so her birthday is irrelevant to him. If his mother's words hadn't been echoed in his ear...he would've avoided her like the plague. She still thinks she stands a chance with him. Poor Lingyi. He just wants his wife's trust. He couldn't even see that Lianfang's interruption is the reason that Shiyi didn't confess. General Fu is always the man with a plan...lol He gives great advice. Lingyi is lucky to have him by his side. Nanny Tao is forever getting this messed up. I wouldn't trust a word that's coming out of her mouth. She doesn't know how to gather information. It's all gossip/no ounce of truth in it. She just accepts what's being told. Here's another person that can not be trusted. Shiyi is surrounded by snakes. I don't mind her trying to suppress Lianfang because she's dangerous to Shiyi/Zhun. However, it doesn't seem as though they're trying to suppress her. It's more like they want to add another concubine to his little harem as a way to suppress Shiyi/force her to do Madame Luo's bidding. Amber being used as a secret weapon is sad.

I really wished Shiyi would have flexed her status a little in this moment. She could have rebuked the concubine for interrupting the legal couples conversation. And I bet Lingyi would have like to see it and supported her if Lingfang would have brought it up to Great Madam. Like "as the concubine, shouldn't you wait for us husband and legal wife to finish before speaking? Go copy the family rules" I would have loved to see that just a moment. But I know Shiyi is playing the patient long game and isn't petty, I just didn't want that moment to end between our couple

@@arilu89x it would've been nice to see her putting Lianfang in her place again....but the GM would've had a field day punishing her for disrespecting her favorite pet. The GM doesn't care about enforcing the family rules when it comes to Lianfang. She's been breaking the family rules for months to protect her. It wouldn't have made much of a difference to her especially since it's Lianfang's birthday. The only time the GM upholds the family rules is when she's upset with Lianfang...the only time she uses the family rules is when she's punishing Shiyi. Hr moral compass is non existent....She's a lousy matriarch.

@@shontelagrone8713 Agree that GM's biases make her an unfit matriarch, but with the witness being Lingyi, I kinda think Shiyi could have gotten away with a verbal rebuke. Something along the lines of her telling her to wait to speak;" As a concubine, you must wait for the husband and legal wife to finish speaking" Manners are paramount and can be punished for. OR Shiyi could have interrupted the interruption by asking Lingfang questions: "Is the GM giving a verbal decree? Is there an emergency? No, then perhaps you should wait for our conversation to conclude? Maybe you don't understand your place" Because no matter how much she favors Lingfang, no one actually used the family rules against GM properly. Because if Shiyi asked simply in front of the whole family GM would have to blatantly show her cards and only likes doing it behind the scene to save face.

@@arilu89x I don't think that would've worked. In the GM's eyes Lianfang was his legal wife...that's why she put her in charge of the household affairs...this was the job of the legal wife...if she hadn't screwed up...she still would've been in charge. If she protected her from harming Zhun...when she knew the truth...she even stopped the physician from exposing her... Her grandson is favored by her because he's the legitimate heir...so if she ignored his pain/suffering to protect Lianfang...then Shiyi doesn't stand a chance. She would've told Shiyi that it was no big deal...because it was her birthday. Every time there was a problem...and Lianfang was involved the GM would move heaven and earth to defend her...this is why Lianfang never feared the consequences of her actions. She knew the GM would cover for her. The GM is all about status...and since Lianfang is a legitimate daughter...her status is ranked above Shiyi's even though she's the legal wife. When Danyang was speaking out about Lianfang...and the brocade fabric..the GM ignored her words in order to protect Shiyi....and she was using sound judgement and the family rules. The GM has a history of ignoring the family rules when it comes to Lianfang...she also has a history of forgetting about right and wrong when Lianfang is involved. Her integrity is questionable...Shiyi is lucky to have Lingyi.

@@arilu89x At this point, Shiyi's not particularly interested in her husband's relationships with the other Concubines, she only married him because she suspected that someone in his family was involved in her mother's death, if she plays her hand too early, the people she suspects might be involved will get away. Besides, Shiyi actually told Lianfang that she was more than willing to give her all the power as long as she could live peacefully when they were talking about their favorite flowers. Shiyi said that her favorite flowers are plum blossoms that bloom in the winter while Lianfang prefers peonies who only bloom in the late spring. In Chinese culture, peonies are referred as the king of flowers and was a favorite flower of powerful people and symbolize prosperity fame and wealth while the five petals of a plum blossom represent the Five Blessings: old age, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a natural death, and is considered to be a far more resilient flower than the peony. So, this was Shiyi's basic attempt at saying "you can have the Marquis' favor, I won't fight you if you don't". Lianfang's interruption might have been a show of dominance, but Shiyi's only ever interfered with Lianfang when it directly affected herself or the people she cares about.
