Amazing band that took progressive music to the next level. If you like this you would love their first two albums 'Deloused in the Crematorium' and 'Frances the Mute' which are two of the finest albums ever recorded. Although good the following albums never reached those heights.

Amputechture and Bedlam are amazing as well, probably my most listened to. Also I like the Frances fan edit version without such long noise sections and the added title track better. Nick I would start at their debut album and work my way up chronologically ;-)

On the name of the band, lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala said in an interview that "The Volta is taken from a Federico Fellini book about his films, what he characterizes as a changing of scene, or a turnaround; a new scene to him is called Volta. And 'Mars', we're just fascinated by science-fiction"

Viscera Eyes is fantastic dude, great pick! Try Ciciatriz ESP off Deloused In the Comatorium, it completely changed my perception of this band. I hope it makes it onto your radar soon. Fantastic band, the new singles sound great too. They just came out last week and Blacklight Shine with the bomba music and dancing is just fucking fire man, tribal Puerto Rican music. What's not to like?

You nailed it with your reaction and analysis of their sound. They have a great discography and a lot of awesome songs, but listening to them in album form is the best way to go about it if that's feasible on your reaction channel.

If you like this song, you also MUST listen to L'Via L'Viaquez !!! Crazeee 🤨 Mars Volta is hard to describe, it is prog, but other than that a genre of its own. I don't know any band, that I would name, if someone asks me what they sound like. I don't know, but sometimes it seems like having "strange" names like Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Alfredo Rodriguez-Lopez is an obligation to create "unusual" music 😆 I own 1 Mars Volta CD - Frances the mute - great music, but listening to the whole CD can be exhausting .... and you have to listen, definitely no background music 🤘 Fun fact: I just watched a live recording of 2003 and Cedric reminded me of 3 different singers: the look is a bit like Marc Bolan, the singing style is like Robert Plant at certain parts of the song and the movements remind me of a young Joe Cocker 😆

This was awesome. I don't think Jason Newstead ever was part of this, but members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers guested on their debut. A lot of early Mars Volta was very intense and proggy in a modern way. This is still comparatively straight forward. Other tracks are pure madness.

this is a request from a recent fan, and from a Post-rock fan, about 7 months ago, you reacted to Sigus Rós, and I really wanted you to understand better about Post-rock, because for me it's the best musical genre, if they could react to the band Mogwai, or Bark Psychosis, my two favorite bands

#nicknlexrequest Hi guys, I don't believe you have reacted to the band Gov't Mule as of yet. Gov't Mule was founded in 1995 by Allman Bros guitarist Warren Haynes. Awesome guitarist and great vocalist Haynes has created some really killer albums and continues to do so. I would say their sound is not far from their Allman Bros roots but is heavier and more electric in their sound. I am suggesting these four songs. hope you give them a chance. I have a feeling you both will appreciate what they do. Thanks in advance. Matt G. (Gravityking) Album: Dose (1998) Songs: "Thorazine Shuffle" and "Larger Than Life" Album: The Deep End (2001) Song: Banks Of The Deep End" Album: High And Mighty (2006) Song: "Endless Parade" * Enjoy!

honestly I have my special issures with this band, but I need to accept that Frances the Mute is one hardly giant epic record in the realms of prog rock. But the albums that comes after this: aren't they just a replicant apearance of this masterpiece?

This album is awesome but this is quite possibly the weakest track on the album haha. It's a lot more standard and more of a single than the other longer tracks like Tetragrammton or Day Of Baphomets which are much more memorable from the album. You should check out some of those instead next time haha
