what I love about this song is during the "American rock" parts they sing in Spanish, and during the salsa parts they sing in English. Neat trick.

To this day I still can't believe these guys recorded this album separately, with each member only knowing their parts and knowing nothing of what the others were playing. Omar is a hell of a genius if he really pulled that off

MrPorcupine agree. But that pretty much leads to the great jon Theodore leaving the band I guess..
@Ophiuchus1234567894 жыл бұрын
@@dukeflyingcow Yeah, I feel this band would've lasted longer if Omar wasn't such a 'leader' of the band. That always ruins dynamics having one guy telling everyone else what to do. It's a team contribution after all.

I saw them play live in the summer of 2005 with SOFD (they were the Headliner). But honestly I fell in love with The Mars Volta when I saw them play the Frances the Mute album as the second act. They had some trippy black lights for this and the points past Cassandra the gemini. They sounded just like the album when they played live that's how you knew they rehearsed so much while making the album. It was such a privilege to see them play live.

Stop arguing if Cedric and Omar are from Mexico, USA, Puerto Rico.. is the same, guys.. I'm from Argentina, very proud of latin music. But this is all because of the music, not because the country they lived in. This song kicks ass, Omar is probably one of the best guitar players in the history of rock (that's my personal vision). And yes they have songs, both in spanish and english, so what?. A guy who was born on the USA but he sings in spanish, and all the latin proud comes out: "oh, yeah, he is latin! i'm so proud".. No he is not, but not because of that you have to start a discussion about it.. Enjoy the music. You cand find good musicians in almost every country in the world.

@wmotamedi Did a little prowling (not wikipedia mind you) and found out that this whole album is based on a Diary found by former band member Jeremy Ward. The diary was from a man struggling to find his parents. Each song on this album is about a different person in the diary. Each person, leading the man closer to his parents. Jeremy Ward identified with him. Which is why they made this concept album. In the memory of Ward. So, I guess the lyrics do have meaning behind them.
