Lou had been around. Maybe not as much as Sharlene, but he was a soldier in World War Two, was married for 26 years, and he and his wife had three daughters. Not exactly inexperienced. He was still intimidated by Sharlene's sexual history with men. The fragile male ego. Glad that Lou summoned up some self-confidence, and kept seeing Sharlene. Six??

I would be delighted, to meet a Man., ..Just like Lou Grant!! Faithful, hardworking, funny, and most of all...was a confidant, to all of the problems his " people were, as the News Director- at WJM " A guy like Lou Grant is rare today.... My Brother was a Soldier, on Vietnam... he and Lou, would have got on famously, with each other :)
