Bloody well ridden. You had perfect strides to each fence, made it as easy for your horse as possible taking the low fences, keeping him back as well as keeping out of the way of the loose horses & he thanked you for it. Fantastic job. Good team. 🥰

Smart jockey. Kept to the back, let the horses in front knock rails off making it easier for his horse early on, and avoided several potential wrecks with loose horses. Fantastic ride!

I said the same thing. What a very smart Jockey. He saved his horse for the very las second. I already knew, the horse in the front would have to drop out eventually. There was no way that horse could keep that pace. He was extremely smart by staying behind but also, didn't allow to much ground to be lost between the horses and him. It's a fine line that's hard to balance

@@PixieLove5 The horse in front did not stop because he was tired...... he was spooked by a fence. That horse would have won by a football field.

Greetings from England. This was both interesting & exciting: fancy the cam being on the eventual winner. Really felt for the combination that - at the 18th? - were taken out by the loose horse. I’m left wondering whether any jockeys or horses would compete here & come over to Cheltenham, or Aintree? Subbed.

American jockeys seem to have given up on the English national sadly

Ben Nevis II and Bewley's Hill were both winners who came over to compete in the Grand National. The former successful in 1980.

There is no way that these horses and jockeys could be competitive in Britain, Ireland or France. Our average jockeys and conditionals go over there and absolutely clean up. Let alone the fact that we send Gr3 hurdlers over there and they end up becoming multiple Gr1 winners in the States.

i love that he gave his horse plenty praise there are some clips i see riders get of their horse and march away after beating them to death without even a good boy or a scratch on the neck, its terrible sometimes

If you look closely at the horses reaction to after the races, you would understand that the horse LOVE this. They are a working species. If not worked, they can become depressed, develop anti social behaviors, develop anxiety issues among other ailments. As much as I do think that was a little much for the horse and rider(I mean, come on. The horse has an extra 100lbs on it. 4 miles and 22 jumps seems a little excessive) but then again, horses, like humans, can adapt to almost anything. There's a reason Horses have remained this long in the wild and in our stables. The training these horses go through, does 100% prepare for this. The horses you see that cannot make it, or refuse, tend to be either having a bad day or not up to par for that specific event. I saw minimal sweating, no foam at the mouth, and pricked ears which means the horse was alert, active and ready for more after a nice break.

if timber fences are fine here (the 16th is a solid fence at 4ft 10) why do we have soft plastic cores in the National. I would like to see the winner of this race invited for the National as use to be the way.

Thats right. He was a triple winner. Ben Nevis a dual winner. I recall Bewleys Hill and Uncle Mearln both came over 1987 and 1990 to the GN. Fort Devon came over and entered but didnt run. If you finished in first four of MHC you automatically qualified for the national. Im sure in the 1960s there were runners in the GN from Ireland, Czech Republic, France, Russia and Japan. More interest and variety from todays bland 140-155 rated. That doesnt include horses bred in Germany, Chile, NZ and Poland.
