I think it's more of a "Focalors chose justice, even though it hurt herself both as an archon and Furina", because theoretically the one who should have been "doomed" like that is Egeria.

@@NikoNikoSmart - i don't think an Archon gets to choose to implement their element. They are the manifestation of their element. Eg. Morax doesn't choose to maintain a contract. To break a contract would be to deny his own existence. Focalors _is_ justice. And isn't in a position to choose to be just. That's a human ability.

@@mijmijrm On the other hand, as we saw in Inazuma, archon's meaning of their element can change - Ei's eternity is no longer the same. (Though we can say that she doesn't count, because she wasn't affected by the gnosis.) That's why I'm assuming that Focalors "chose" this particular justice, because from Celestia's point of view what was supposed to happen with Fontainian people was right. Maybe that's why Egeria wasn't "doomed" - she still thought what she did was justified, while Focalors tried to escape the punishment, accepting Celestia's claim and using that opportunity to give power back to the owner. Morax is a good point though. I'm not sure how he could be able to change his beliefs 🤔 Freedom and wisdom are more subjective than contracts. That's obviously only my thoughts 🙂 I'm interested in your opinion as well.

For some reason, when N said we needed to “play our part” in the story, it made me think that maybe the role of the traveler is to break the samsara cycle teyvat is in…we know that teyvat is running on a loop, the samsara which we explored in Sumeru, but just like the Sumeru Archon quest, could it be that we are suppose to break that cycle since we are a variable in the story?

The current lore we get in Fontaine seems to be pointing that this is the last cycle already, not sure if Traveler has anything to do with that.

I think when N said that it means we (the travelers) just need to play our part like the prophecy foretold, let it be and see what happens you'll never know if it has a good ending or a bad ending. Its like watching a new movie, you never know what the ending is till you stick to the end after all the whole thing was just a play that Focalors has created to enact the most beautiful performance to end everything.

I think is cause is just attached with the prophecy, and it's destined to happens but we didn't know Focalors plan beforehand. In Sumeru we discovered that we were in a non-ending day, so the cicle repeats itself, which is not fated to happen like Fontaine.

Hopefully this little explanation makes it easier for you to understand dish : The first descender is the primordial one and his shades (they all are counted as the same person) The second descender is the one who challenged the primordial one and broke through the firmament that was put up, they are know just as "The second who came" The third descender is completely unknown but my theory is that he is the "sinner" from cariberts quest because of its authority similar to that of a god/gnosis and connections to forbidden knowledge, the sinner can also possibly be seen as dead in the form we witness them in. The fourth descender is your MC also known as the traveler, notably not being of the world of teyvat. I will say, the abyss twin cannot be the third descender because one they are alive and two nahida confirmed irminsul has memory of them meaning somehow they made themselves compatible with teyvat as a whole.

If I remember correctly, the twins were summoned to Teyvat. My theory is that the summoning was only for one twin and the other was an unexpected party. That's why one was involved with the Khaenri'ah was and the other only seemed to wake up right as they were going to escape. So, the 'Abyss Twin' was accepted by the Heavenly Principles while the 'Traveler Twin' remained an anomaly, explaining why only one is considered a 'Descender'.

Im on the opposite opinion, i feel like if i had a twitch chat like most ive seen, shitting on the traveller and Fontaine, i would have banned so many. What part of ‘furina is keeping secrets and endangering Fontaine’ do they not understand. Obviously, in hindsight, Furina had every reason to act the way she did but so did the rest fo the cast. The whole point of Focalors plan and the travellers plan required the trial, people being so defensive pf Furina to the point of babying her is annoying.

What gets me are the chatters calling for Fontaine and Travellers head for the trial or saying shit like we betrayed Furina. Excuse me, for betrayal there would have to be trust. At this point in the story, Furina has jerked the traveller around and is holding secrets while Fontaine is in the verge of collapse. All those idiots saying not to bully her would not hold anyone in power to account or friends if they did something wrong.

This quest pretty much just solidified my beliefs that the Fatui (or at least the Harbingers) weren't the bad-BAD guys. La Signora was right when she said that the Tsaritsa's desires were a noble one. Also, this pretty much sheds light to exactly why Celestia punished K'hanreiahn's , they're guilty for the same thing Egeria was, creating new life. Edit: Saw the replies and my comment mislead my intent. I meant like VERY BAD sorry. I meant that they're willing to sacrifice pretty much anything including sacrificing others and stepping on other people to get through with their plans. Of course, they're BAD people but their overall goal is noble for sure. (Thank you commenters :D)

Well you can’t exactly call them “good guys” either…sure their intentions of destroying Celestia might be noble, but forcing national disasters like Childe resurrecting Osial, Signora interfering with the tri commission in Inazuma, Scara causing genocide by giving away delusions that killed many, dottore experimenting with human life and gaslighting Scara…and who knows what Arlechinno and the others will do… so to claim the harbingers aren’t bad guys is a pretty bold claim

I think this solidifies that the Fatui's overall PLAN isn't necessarily evil, but to say they're not the bad guys is a bit of a stretch. Signora and Scara passing out Delusions in Inazuma, Childe almost causing the destruction of Liyue, and EVERYTHING Dottore has done, pre-Sumeru and beyond. Even Arlecchino says that she would have gotten the Gnosis one way or another; being an ally and benefactor just worked out the best in Fontaine. And we still don't know the motives of other Harbingers like Capitano, Columbina, Sandrone, etc. But overall the Fatui are just continuing to be shown as people just like anyone in Teyvat. It reminds me of the final ATLA season when they're travelling the Fire Nation. They find good/bad/regular people living their lives, even though the Fire Nation leaders are causing so much strife in the world. In the Chasm and the Golden Apple Archipelago and with Viktor in Mondstadt/Sumeru, we've basically befriended and asssisted Fatui, continuing that with The House of the Hearth. And then we've seen other evil Fatui in Yelan's story quest, Inazuma, and beyond. Every nation has given us some evil characters that aren't Fatui Mondstadt: Albert, Nimrod, and the Lawrence Clan Liyue: Shenhe's Father, Little Qu'er, Chaoxi Inazuma: Kurisu from the International Trade Association and Shinsuke Sumeru: Azar/Jani, and the corrupt Sages Fontaine: Vacher and Cowell

As others have already stated it's quite hard to say the Fatui aren't bad guys. All of them have thier own agenda. They sure follow Tsaritsa's orders but they do it on their own way and usually in ways that put them closer to their personal goals.

[THEORY] Well, according to Ashikai's video about the gnoses, all of them are KING chess pieces representing a specific chess match (there are 7 I think). The reason why they are kings is that they represent the THRONE. Hence, they could represent a certain type of seal towards the throne of a certain archon. So, when Focalor destroyed the Hydro Archon's Throne, Neuvillete did not have any need of the Hydro gnosis anymore because their power revolves around the throne/power that was stolen from them (the dragons).

@@midnashadow8439 The gnoses are the connection between the archons and Celestia, I dont think they actually confer any power to the archons. Raiden didnt have her gnosis when we fought her. All of the archons have given up their gnoses but are still archons. The power of the throne is what was stolen from the dragons. The hydro gnosis still exists and it still retains whatever functionality it had. Neuvilette regained his power when the throne of the hydro archon was destroyed, the gnosis means nothing to him.

The gnoses cant all be kings. In the winter night's lazzo trailer both the Anemo and Geo pieces are on the board at the same time for white. Its possible they could all be queens because pawns can become queens and you can have multiple queens on the board but never multiple kings.

@@nathanpapp432 true, but Neuvilette said that the power of the sovereigns were used to create the basis of the archons authority, which could imply that the gnoses were created using some of the powers from the dragons, as for Arlechinno still wanting the gnosis, we do know now that they are the remains of the 3rd descender and now it’s speculated and theorized that they want to resurrect the 3rd descender instead of using the Gnoses powers to destroy Celestia, therefore even if the hydro gnosis didn’t contain no more powers, it would still be needed to bring back the one before the traveler. And while the Gnoses don’t convey any powers, they do heighten them, as the 7 use to have their own elemental powers before they received the Gnoses which enhanced their abilities ever further, as Zhongli says that in order to make mora you need “the power of the Geo archon” which now isn’t his anymore after giving away his gnosis to Signora, and also how after becoming a god, Scaramouche was able to control the weather in Pardis Dhyai where he struck Tighnari and other Fatui members down with lighting…so while not responsible for giving all their powers, they do enhance them to godly levels

I don't think it's based on the body so much as crystallized power. So, the Descender dies and Celestia takes the remaining ambient power within their body, separates it into the specific elements, and then uses that to bind the Dragons' authorities. That's how I see it, at least. If I were to make a guess, the Tsaritsa found the Descender's body, which is the inciting incident that changed her attitude so thoroughly that Venti doesn't recognize her anymore. It might even e the case that the Tsaritsa knew the Descender when they were alive and is pissed off at Celestia for killing them.
