This was a genuine embarrassment for me in high school in Scotland in the 1990s. There was a school trip to Greece that my registration teacher was trying to get us to sign up to saying that it was £10. I was so confused and kept asking how it would be so cheap. I was given answers like 'there would be so many people going' and that 'it would be by coach'. I then said 'wouldn't it take ages by coach', to which my teacher said 'no, Edinburgh is only 35 miles away'. It was Grease that we were going to, not Greece.
@neilstrickland4937 Жыл бұрын
I live in Canada but I suspect that I would have reacted the same way. “Grease” (the musical) and “Greece” (the country) sound the same. Your teacher should made it clearer that the trip was to see the musical “Grease” in Edinburgh!
@Z_MIB Жыл бұрын
@@neilstrickland4937 Yeah especially since a "trip to Greece" is not the same as "a trip to see Grease." Also, how is the musical Grease popular in Scotland? I don't even get why it was ever popular in America.

It seems an unlikely mistake to make, but way better than Tom's suggestion of 1950s BC (which is before Greece per se existed, let alone Rome; apparently the Minoan civilization was around then). Seems odd none of them mentioned it. Also it mentioned "togas" which technically are Roman. So 50 BC or 50 AD would be reasonable for temples and togas.

At 5:20 I it just came to me. She said "Greasers" Greasers were subculture, mostly teenagers and often trouble makers. Carrie was a nerdy, homely recluse who was badly abused by her zealot mother, and by her classmates. In the movie Carrie starts her period, see that she is bleeding and freaks out. The other girls tease her relentlessly, including electing her Home Coming Queen only to humiliate her by dumping a bucket of pig's blood on her head. This is where Carrie's telekinetic powers come fully on line. She was meant to be a homely, mousy girl, which is what Chloë Grace Moretz was such a terrible choice for that roll in the 2013 remake. Chloë Grace Moretz is a fantastic actor, but she is as unsuasible for that roll as Tom Hanks is to play MLK. She simply doesn't have the right look.

My initial thought, which turned out to be very wrong, was that i thought she asked for it in writing. But, she was being just a bit too pretentious and in stead of asking for a 1950's feel, she for some reason wrote it in roman numerals to get that MCML feel. Whoever read that request didn't understand roman numerals and just assumed it was set in ancient rome.
