Most of us older have homes because we worked ...it took a lot then and now... most elderly.could never afford to I move. Do to the cost factors😢 you are right.100%😢 I'm always watching. IDK if this applies to everyone but last week it appears that my husband & I, both on disability, had our income cap adjusted! I had an extra deposit and I received a letter today from SSA saying I’ll furthermore be receiving my full benefit amount. Both of us will receive the full amount. He’s SSDI & I received approval and first check 10/2024. There may be a major announcement tomorrow

Then how come they raised the amount of income a person on regular retirement can earn withoit paying taxes? Social Security Fairness Act passed. How come both SSA and SSDI have no resource limit? Only SSI cant have resources over 2050 without their entire months benefits being cut. How can someone on SSI buy a home with no savings?

Living frugally, being a minimalist and saving my hard earned money💰, I happily retired at 60 free of debt 💸 in 2021. To save money 💵 in today’s chaotic, uncertain, ridiculous inflationary times our family of retirees consolidated. I moved from my former residence(rented). My sister, her husband and son opened their home 🏡 for me(my sister’s brilliant idea 💡). I’m renting a room and contributing money for household necessities: groceries. A win, win for all of us. We’re gratefully blessed, thriving and enjoying a well earned comfortable retirement.😊 I’m fortunate to have my employer matched and unmatched retirement accounts, my nice size savings and emergency fund, which will see me through at least 2 years of my expenses. Not to mention collecting my well earned Social Security benefits I paid into for decades. The last 24 years busting my butt working in healthcare as a (RT)Respiratory Therapist and through the Covid/Delta pandemic 😷(Essential worker). Even as a retiree I successfully saved an additional $20K. Hallelujah!. God is providing. So no worries or fears here. Freedom, Joy, Abundance and Peace of mind. This is true wealth. Life is short. Time and Family is what truly matters. The work will always be there. It’s never ending. Enjoy the journey. God bless everyone.😊

I'll never be able to have a house of my own anyway living on SSI. Even if prices dropped dramatically. I'm barely surviving. If I wasn't living with with my mom and my oldest brother, I (all of us) wouldn't be able to survive. We'll be having to just rent for the rest of our lives. We'll never have enough money to actually buy a house etc. Unless we won the lottery or something.

What took everyone else so long to notice. There's plentiful empty spaces and buildings to rent to people, like where they where living reasonably well before the spaces were flipped for the sake price inflating to unsustaining everything else that is part of a healthy, economy that is doable. There were changes in economic laws that created these disasterous loopholes that lead to this situation and more and more soft ware honed to exploit the grift towards this end. Not true if you live in Houston Texas they are buying lots of land and building tiny homes these home start at $160,000 dollars to buy. basically you can only have one car and they have one bedroom all the way up to three bedrooms a lot of seniors moved in there and single moms with kids .and they want to go Nationwide you buy the tiny home you buy the little bit of land and you have land in a home. If you want to see them on KZbin just type in Houston Texas tiny homes and you will be amazed how they are doing this. Coming to a city near you. They started doing in this in Florida but I can't afford Florida's tiny homes.
