Well Tiger acted the same way when he won #82 in Japan. But golf bridges the gap between the language barriers. Can't expect Hideki to give a 30 minute speech in English.
@RobBiagi
@RobBiagi 3 жыл бұрын
@@sumsar0125 I think Hideki is just really shy. And if the tables were turned, and a shy English-speaking golfer were winning a huge event in Asia, he might not want to struggle through waiting for translations and the possible embarrassment of not knowing the local language - even after being in that country over 10 years. He might just choke out a “Domo arigato” and hurry back to his English-speaking world. Understandable...
@sumsar0125

@@RobBiagi For sure, he said so in the presser after the third round. He doesn't enjoy the media spotlight at all which was clearly visible on Sunday. Great win, great golfer and Japan now has its first, male major champion.

At first I thought that if Jordan Spieth had of had a better first round that he would have won it. After watching Matsuyama on the weekend, I see that he was truly the best player this year. He was really the only one who moved on moving day up the leader board like a champion golfer does. He also played smart on Sunday. He stuffed so many approach shots throughout the tournament that it reminded you of Tiger Woods.

What a great Tournament Matsuyama played! I hope it doesn't change him too much. Many golfers win their first Major and try to do too much, and in turn end up doing nothing. Almost shocking that this was his first win in four years! Best of luck to him. The Japanese are very passionate about golf. He did his country proud. He's the first, I have a feeling he wont be the last.

I know, I was thinking the same thing, I've seen so many first time major winners in golf, that end up completely disappearing after winning. I think that is what makes guys like Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods so special, those guys were never content with just winning 1 major. I was rooting for Hideki on Sunday, and so happy to see him win, but at the same time, I kinda feel like all of us golf fans have been cheated because of all of Tiger's injuries and personal problems, imagine what golf would be like if Tiger was able to just play golf during his prime years in his mid to late 30's??? Yes, I know Tiger had that nice 2 year run from age 36 to 37, but besides that short period, he was basically absent after age 32-33, and didn't win a major between age 32 and 43.
