Steven, I used to have a massive slice like you when I first started out the way that I fixed it was by having my left foot in front of my right foot when addressing the ball. It’s a tactic that is taught by Butch Harmon. Also you are taking the club too far back and losing control at the top of your swing if you look at Micah’s swing it is short and compact like Tony Finau. I promise if you have a more controlled swing you will gain a whole bunch of distance. Best of luck and hit em straight!

@Steven Castaneda with your iron shots. So you don't hit the toe everytime. When you line up the to ball line up more with the hozzle and not the center of the club face. You have an inside out swing so you swing out when in backswing but pull your arms in while in your downswing. Its going to majorly help reduce towing the club and will also help reduce slice on your driver

Steve your right shoulder is coming over the top a lot causing the face to come in wide open.. try just pivoting around your hips and keep your shoulders more even. A nice tip I got when I struggled with the rights was imagine you’re shaking hands with the target with your right hand, focus on getting your right hand and the club coming right through to the target. Also steady your follow through! Good luck man!

Steven, when you are aiming left for the slice, don’t just aim your club face, also move your legs to aim at the swing path and you’ll hit it more of a power fade rather than a slice. Hope this helps!!

Steven because you set up so far left of your target, your body has to over correct and is making you come across the ball as much as you are in order to get the ball back towards the fairway which is causing a big slice and a big loss of distance. I remember in your early videos (such as your first match against Matt) you were keeping up with him in distance, that’s when your club path was on plane and wasn’t as out to in. Try to start working on getting the path in to out more and it will lessen the slice. Best way to fix it is to over-exaggerate an in-out path and your normal swing will be more on plane as long as you practice it. You can also focus on keeping your right elbow tucked closer to your body which will help. A simple drill is putting your driver head cover in your right armpit and trying to keep it there for your entire swing. Another thing you could try is to tilt your shoulder at address to point out to the right, this will get your body and arms to turn to the right more and help that in/out path. Secondly, check ball position and make sure it isn’t too far back in your stance. Hope this helps and love the content you boys have been putting out recently!! Edit: Also when you tilt your shoulders out right, make sure you drop your right foot back a little because if your feet are aimed out way left and shoulders out way right, that’s a recipe for disaster

Love the video so far Stephen and love your channel and your content, absolutely fire. If you don’t mind my commenting about your swing, I’m noticing your grip and to me it looks like a weak grip meaning your left hand is gripped where you can barely see you knuckles. Try to grip the club with your left hand showing two an a half knuckles or three knuckles and grip it and rip it.

To get rid of the slice, focus on hitting the ball from the inside. Imagine the ball being a clock, the 12 is closest at the target and your club at set up is touching 6. Hit from 8 to 2 and you’ll have nice draws. To take it further swing on the inside and then exit left with the club but that is more complicated.
@lukeweir92624 жыл бұрын
Also if the club face is open it’ll just push so on your takeaway keep the face shut
@charliegreen70184 жыл бұрын
Surely coming from the inside produces a shot right? That will push the ball which is still right. He should imagine taking the the club outside his line and stop his right shoulder coming over the top
@lukeweir92624 жыл бұрын
Charlie Green No. Look at Rory McIlroy, great example of striking the ball from the inside. As long as face is square to target then you’ll produce a better shot. It’ll go further too.
@SirSollo4 жыл бұрын
Steve, i used to hit my drives as mad slices like yours, watch Clay Ballards how to drive straight video.. it's an hour long but in the first 15 minutes he explains the changes you need to make, tucked right elbow, twist your hips right and right foot back a bit.. never hit a ball so straight

Here's tip Stephen, instead of taking a full 60 degree on those 80 yard shots, choke down on a 52 or 56 and play a lower flighted pitch. You'll get more control of where you want to hit it. It's more of a feel shot so you may not get it right away but it will shave strokes off your round.

I agree w Marc in one of the comments below Steven my mans, I used to hit a slice too I think it’s a club path problem. Also on your iron shots you should not shift your weight in the backswing and shift it to your front in the follow through (also keep your head down so you don’t lift up at the end). Noice content tho homie

Hey bud, your weight transfer is pretty hit or miss, that fade (slice) usually comes from you not getting onto your left side until the club is through the ball, except for that "straight" shot you hit, in which your hands got a little loose up top and you straight came over the top of it. I am sure Garrett or Tig see these same things, and have just been either not wanting to give advice or maybe that is something yall have just decided to not do on camera. You just need some range time, no crazy wheels, no cameras, just focus on your game.
