I just started playing roulette, but my general strategy has been martingale, not because it works (statistically you will still walk away with a loss eventually), but because I like how it simply speeds up wins/losses. Then, I'll withdraw profits when I win and start the stakes over with low stakes using my default bankroll. If I run into losses, I stop doubling up, eat the loss, and restart with low stakes. To me, this will mean some weeks where I have extra pocket change until I lose my default bankroll. Then, I simply wait until I have spare money to play with at a later time. This way, I'm gambling for fun and not under the fallacy that I'll walk away with winnings. Enjoy lucky weeks, expect losses.

This is such a great video, not just for roulette, but because it illustrates the entire principal of casino games in general - you simply cannot win. Maybe you as an individual can get lucky and win around or a session every once in awhile, but the public in general can never win over the casino because the games are specifically designed that way. There was no need for the casino to cheat, the odds are simply in their favor over a long enough period of games, because they simply do not pay at fair odds.

Actually, you gave me some snotty reply 2 months ago that I didn't know what I was talking about and didn't know simple math. I've only been interested in Roulette for about 4 months but since your "you don't know what you're doing" email I'm up $11,850. I've been going twice a week for two months, only setting small goals each time. Lost about 20% of the time, won 80% of the time. As I practice at home on a site that has Roulette for free I get the same ratio over a greater sampling. Luck's involved but it's not just luck. I just posted my technique, you might want to go to some site like 247roulette.org which is free and try it. I'd be curious if you lost a lot or won often. Because I think it's also part attitude. Great Info, Indeed. However, you don't need to do all that Math if you just remember that "Zero-Double Zero" is the Vig (or the Rake) and all other bets are basically 50/50 odds. Correct t me if i'm wrong but I dont think this is how it works. The odds that you will win mostly depend on how many numbers you bet. Say that you bet $1 for number 1 to 35 which means you bet for $35 The odd that one numbers of yours will win is: 35/38 = more than 0.9 or more than 90% You would win $35 and lose the other $34 or win $1 for the odd of 90% And the odd of you lose the $35 bet is 3/38 or roughly 10% . . But what i'm talking about here is the odd of winning, not the amount of how much you win. While you can lose $35 , MOSTLY you will win $1

Your expected to lose $34 (the bet size if every bet is $1), 4/38 times, then your expected loss after 100 games is 357.89(you lose around 10 times). The casino's would love having you around.

Some people walk up and will put $100 on red or black with an expected win of 18:38. I contend if that same person put $90 on red or black and $5 on each of the two green numbers they still have $100 on the table but have increased their odds of winning by 2 numbers. Also if they hit one of the green numbers that pays $175 - the $100 bet still clears $75. In the long run this probably would not pay off but for that one time thrill better I like to take insurance. Note if you try this and hit on the green i suggest you put $20 to $30 on split greens for the next spin. Could pay for your weekend trip.

Probably the best thing in casino roulette is just watching other people play. Buy a drink (they're usually cheap to get people drunk & make stupid decisions) & observe. dang, if u lost your money with only 3 rounds of side bets, you were playing large portions. You need to afford the losses so you can finally land a win and be reimbursed with your strategy (called Martingale). Pick a good set of losses you're willing to take then do the math on how to break it up the wager per round.

The pick 3 lottery is one of the worst bets. Pick 3 single digit numbers in order so odds of winning are 10X10X10 or 1 in 1,000. When you win, you get $500. Cost is $1. So the expected value is almost exactly -$.50 for every dollar bet (-$.499 to be exact). You lose HALF of your money, on average on each bet. And yet millions of people will play the pick 3 lottery this year. It's like a tax on the math-challenged.

No, roulette wheel has no 38, but 37 numbers. Also, because of the "en prison" rule, the odds are better. You are referring to roulettei in American casinos, not the European version. This would be considered a serious rip-off by any European. Something like blackjack where the player loses on draw. Roulette is predominantly an European casino game, and the US version should not be presented as the standard of the game. Roulette is very popular in Europe, but not so much in the US - mainly because of the rip off house rules employed by US casinoa.

Unless if you take the five number bet, your expected loss would always be 5.26% of your bet. You lose two bets if that 14/38 chance happens, which is more than 1/3 of the time so you would lose often enough to lose money.

Hello my friend--- Could you please be kind enough to tell me what the odds are if I bet $1 on section 2, I win and now have $3, I now bet the $3 , lets say first section 1 and win again, now having $9, again I bet the $9 I won on the first section and win again, I win $27, I now bet $27 and win $81 for winning 4 spins in a row and for the fifth spin I bet the $81, I win the 5 fifth spin and now I receive $243. It's rather simple math. Since your chance of winning on any single roll is 12/38, your chance of winning 5 in a row during the next 5 rolls is (12/38)^5 or about 0.3%

I've only now come across your video. Very informative. I have a question if this EV can be applied to Craps. In the game of Craps, unlike Roulette, you also a "No decision" on several out comes. For example if the point is #4; you have 3 ways out of 36 to win and 6 ways out of 36 to lose (7-out). So the remaining other 27 combinations are a "No decision", because you didn't win nor did you lose. How would you get the EV in the game of Craps?

David Kalakaua. Just remove the " no decision" roll so you now have 3/36 =1/12 to win and vrs 6/36 = 1/6 to loose , so your twice as likely to loose as to win

It's an old book but the guy who wrote it knew everything there is to know about the game of Craps, and he throws in some amusing stories along the way. I only wish he was alive to see Patricia DeMauro hold the dice for 4 hours and 18 minutes in 2009 at the Borgata in AC.

Laatikkomafia that's pretty much a martingale progression betting system. In the long run it doesnt work because you're betting more and more money, just to break even and earn a small profit. It can work short term but remember that no number or colour is 'due'. Past events in roulette doesnt affect the future... unlike blackjack. Also, casino's have limits on how much you can bet and you need a big bankroll to try and make any betting system work (but they dont). I will say that roulette is beatable though, on a REAL wheel.

1st & foremost, the Roulette Wheel in this video is NOT what you'll see @ any Casino. Here's why. The wheel that was used in this video is NOT the standard wheel used in every "American" Roulette Wheel. The 'Zero' is always flanked by the #s '2 & 28' (Black), & the Double Zero is flanked by the #s '1 & 27'(Red). This is how I make $$$ with Roulette: After 35 spins, let's say neither Green #s have come through. I then cover my Greens, & the #s 1(Red) 27(Red) & 2(Black) & 28(Black). It works for me every time. While waiting for the Greens to hit, I place bets on the #5, spilt bets on #s 9/12, Front Half of the Board, split bet on #s 18/21, 17/20, 16/19, Middle Board. 27/30 Last 3rd of the Board, along w/individual bets of 28, & 35. Oh, I also split bet on the Greens. I'll be damned if I don't always win. That strategy has always worked for me. Also, always look @ the History of the Spins for Reds/Blks, Odds/Evens, Low side, High side of the board. Take your time, & if need be, take @ least 3 spins off. That will give you a feel for what the Ball is doing. Believe in this system because it always works for me. Case in point: @ the Casino over the weekend in Tucson, AZ, I walked in with $60.00. Put it all in with the Roulette. I took 3 spins off to get a feel for how the Ball was playing/landing, & good Lord, @ the end of my evening, I cased out with $446.00. WHY/How? Because I took my time, & studied the board... C'mon, take your time & just WIN! Beat the damn Casinos!

He is teaching a concept in mathematics behind the game and what you are expected to win, or in this case lose, over a large sample of independent trials. I studied math and this is exactly what you learn in the subject of probability. You can't argue with this guy, and if so I'd like to see some formal proofs showing that your theories are correct.

The Math of roulette, depends of the Players Bets.. Roulette has a program category if how he Pays out.. but most likely the table will always win in every spin.. for example there are 10 players 9 of them plays 1 dollars on Red and 1 players plays 10 dollars on black.. most likely the 9 players will win Red and pays out 1 is to 1 but the collect 10 and still wins 1 dollars.. and if all 10 players play the same color or no. they will 100% overall lose the whole session.
