awesome...I love how you explain things by making a shader and showing what the thing does in the shader. Matrices aren't a mystery, but most of the time they are taught as bare math, numbers on a page. Seeing how they deform geometry or pixels in shaders, and being able to manipulate it all is a good way to understand them.

I've been a professional 3D artist for the last two years, hobbyist since 2018, and Ive been trying to wrap my head around matrices for the longest. This is the first time anyone has explained it in a way that just made sense. Also the combination of ominous Matrix soundtrack playing over the imagery of a goofy smiley face spinning in 2d space at the end of the video is hilarious to me.
@sotrh79744 жыл бұрын
That was a really good explanation. I realized while watching that multiplying a vector by a matrix is just multiplying each column vector of the matrix by the one of the coordinates of the vector.

Now comes the MOABs: Can you produce a trainer for the conversion of GLSL to cg/HLSL? I know you did a conversion previously but that was way back and it seems cg/HLSL has changed to where some variable types and functions don't convert any more. I use Shaderman github submission to make a pass at it then look at the errors. I have come to the conclusion that there are only a few problems and are all similar based upon a predecessor of knowledge.
