Bit of a silly one. Next should be a naval video followed by a machine gun. Pending copyright releases =)
@michaelandreipalon3599 ай бұрын
Not sure about the former, but I'm betting on the latter being the PKM, paired up with clips of one Takina Inoue (Lycoris Recoil) using it to deadly yet almost superhuman effect.

Hilarious that C.O.B.R.A. had enough money for henchmen, uniforms, an armored brigade, jetpack troopers, and laser rifles... but could only afford a pallisade wall fort from the 1300's for defense.

Awww, man, the feels. I loved GI Joe. Who'd have thunk it was a real vehicle, but it fits well into the lore if you think about it. You can imagine the Joe procurement officer, code name Pencilpusher, snatching up advanced experimental projects like that and pushing them into service.

YAY! One of many of GI Joe's famous Tanks has finally gotten an episode.
@anonymousm91139 ай бұрын
The original early-to-mid-'80s run of GI Joe toys were outstanding! I remember getting the V.A.M.P. with its driver Clutch. I later got the A-10-inspired Cobra Rattler and a number of others, including the Transportable Tactical Battle Platform (the oil rig-looking thing). Most of my originals were destroyed, lost, or stolen over the years, but I started buying them again when I got back from Iraq nearly 20 years ago. At the time, the 3-3/4" figures were mostly relegated to Family Dollar stores, sold as individual figures with maybe a rifle or other accessory for $2 or so. I think the H.A.V.O.C., released in 1986, was where GI Joe really started to jump the shark, though I personally enjoyed that toy. The following year I got the Cobra Mamba, in all its purple glory. Before long we were nearing the '90s and everything started getting extra sci-fi, with neon colors, extremely impractical designs, and a definite move away from the quasi-realistic early days. Growing up in the '80s was nice, and GI Joe made many of us want to join the military at an early age. Guys like me, coming from a tradition of military service, simply couldn't wait to join and maybe become a Ranger like Beachhead, a Green Beret like Flint or Lt. Falcon, a Marine like Gung Ho, or even a Sailor like Shipwreck (another personal favorite). I went regular Infantry and, looking back at old GI Joe file cards I see, I'm amazed at two things: the level of detail they could fit on a tiny piece of cardboard, and the relatively low rank of many (E-4 to E-5) as well as the lack of promotions for those characters who were released year after year. I mean, look at Scarlett, one of the original Joes from 1982. She spent at least 28 years as an E-5, still at that rank in 2010: www.yojoe.com/action/10/scarlett13.shtml. I was an E-1 in 2001, made E-5 by 2005, and outranked her in 2007, retiring as an E-7 last year. Maybe I'm reading too much into this...🙂

At least you made it. I blew my ankle out in basic when a big dude fell off the climbing wall, I just lowered myself down and was about to move when I thought I got attacked by a falling bear. My ankle ( which was kinda spidery already ) couldn’t take the weight. It came apart inside my boot. I tried to get up and I kept falling over. DI came over and stopped the guys yet to climb. He pulled my boot and my sock off ( he recognized a badly broken ankle when he saw it). At the medical clinic on the base they determined the break was serious and needed surgery. Took 2 plates and 4 pins to hold it together. Doctor told me that the ankle already had a stress fracture and that its breaking seriously was just a matter of time. The guy who fell on me had failed basic and was coming back for another attempt they gave me time to heal up well enough to walk and I got sent back home as a permanent 4F

(2:02) The XM274 gun wasn't actually designed to break down composite armor, it was designed to burst fire to increase a hit probability with composite breaking being a possible consequence but not the design reason. Soviet composite was tough once all design problems with it were solved, being really good at taking multiple hits.
@matthewcaughey88989 ай бұрын
But the Soviets relied an awful lot on reactive armor then as now

To anybody that came here, and hasn't already, PLEASE find and read the Marvel GI Joe comic run up to issue #75, and its stable-mate series, GI JOE Special Missions up to about issue #50. Both were written by Larry Hama in the heyday of the 80's military/ninjas/total manly awesome era. They feature surprisingly accurate military operations, equipment, and combat/survival techniques, especially the Special Missions series, which takes after real-world terrorists, banana republic revolutions, and East/West Cold War shenanigans. Larry is one of us, and his praises don't get sung enough. HE is the one that created Snake-Eyes!
