Coming from a traditional MA background I've always been a switch hitter. But what I've found in kick boxing and MMA is that if I try to do my normal orthodox stuff in Southpaw, that's when I get hit. What works for me is having a totally different style between the two stances that lets me use the best of the stance while staying safe and giving the opponent more to think about. Or I guess more accurately I have open and closed stance strategies. I hate to admit it but my open stance style is very inspired by McGregor, ultra long range with lots of hand fighting. While in closed stance I'm in mid range to kick and jab my way in
@rico1429 күн бұрын
I think that’s the most realistic to fight switching stances. As a natural conventional fighter. When I spar southpaw I mainly just spam left kicks and crosses.

Zhang can try lots of different styles because she's very athletic - lots of fast-twitch muscle fiber that she was lucky enough to get from her parents. If you're less athletic than Zhang - which I assume most people are - then you're probably doing well to get good at a few things you can do at the highest level. Credit to Zhang for working her ass off despite her athleticism - that's what made Valentina and Aldo and Volko generational talents - the willingness to learn good technique and not simply rely on their athleticism.

Joanna and Rose will be remembered as all time greats regarded for skill. Zhang is just a place holder champion who will get embarrassed by Suarez because she only has physicality and is not a smart fighter.

@bbguy175 ай бұрын
I blame Volk for Max not switching as much anymore. Either he or Eugene Bareman said after their first fight that the plan was to leg kick Max to force him to switch stances because he’s easier to hit southpaw and they thought they could then finish him from there. Max barely switched at all after that until the Allen fight and a few moments ve Kattar
