I think that is a good option for someone who is definitely looking an inexpensive option. It not the greatest picture like you said but still a great option. I am glad you take your time to show all price range options because some other channels are just showing more expensive options and if they like the product it's like they promote it. Your videos have the down to earth options for people who are in the lower price ranges because of money issues. So I would like to thank you for doing this.

If one's TV already has composite video inputs it might not be any better. So I think this is the sort of solution for people who have TV's with only HDMI inputs. S-Video to HDMI converters are significantly better than composite to HDMI. However, some systems like the NES only have composite output. Of course an unmodified NES doesn't even have multi-AV output. And so this is really only a viable solution for 4th to 6th gen Nintendo consoles.

If you are looking for a cheap solution you aren't going to really care about the picture just a better option to play their older consoles.

A personal favorite adapter from Mayflash is their Wii HDMI adapter, it converts the component signal well and doesn’t have any white noise from the audio (from what I could hear on my headphones). Recommend that adapter for Wii owners, and it doesn’t overheat or bow on the console. 👍

I agree completely I've had every wii adapter and none of them compare to the mayflash Edition! Super crisp and clear HD image with excellent surround sound that's noticeably brighter and sharper and more pleasant to the eyes than anything component wise connected to the Wii.

@Neowarshark I agree here as well. I specifically keep my original GameCube around because it has that original component hookup and I have a specific component to HDMI converter they don't even make anymore as the business went under during covid and I was one of the last to get their products before they went off the market. Still provides a better 480p through HDMI image than anything that wii with a mayflash can output though. And I'm able to adjust the picture image quality and force 480p on all games in the GameCube Library which is really nice! 😁

It seems to do exactly what it's suppose to, and it's dirt cheap. I'd personally want to upscale to at least 1080p, but if all your looking for is a way to play your old consoles on a modern flat screen that lacks older video ports (composite, S-Video etc.), then this looks like it gets the job done. I love how super easy it is too. You literally just plug it in and it works.

I just need an adapter that takes the RGB or S-Video signals and converts it to HDMI. I don't need an upscaler like the Retrotink. If it's better looking than composite, it's a major plus. That's why I like Hyperkin's cables. The SNES/N64/GC one even has a 4:3 16:9 switch so you don't need to change the settings on your TV. Only "problem" with that one is that it requires using the USB power cable.

Cheap way to you get your Nintendo consoles on HDMI. But the quality looks blurry like it’s a direct composite signal which is a shame that it’s not capturing at least S-video signal quality.

This reminds me of the cheap Wii2HDMI adapters. I was not lucky with those, I tried 3 different ones and they all had some diagonal stripes rolling over the image for some reason. I ended up getting a component cable for Wii back then and now I just got a Wii U and that's that.

PVM's & RGB output, in NES & N64 special case (no RGB out of the box) via board mods, in my opinion the only way to roll, no alternative!

How does it compare to the Kaiko double scaler that’s 100 dollars? Personally those are expert level soldering work to get HDMi and not that interested in altering classics to that extent. The NES modded with Nintendo port I think is acceptable mod, need to look into that one.

I have this one. It's trash. Doesn't work properly with N64 (lots of stripes in the screen) and the quality for other systems is awful. I do not recommend this product. (The Wii Adapter from MayFlash is great. This one just sucks.)

Agreed. I got one too and am sending it back. Composite looks infinitely better than this on my HD tv. Terrible contrast, totally desaturated. I wasn’t expecting much and this recommendation still led me astray.

Wow, the image quality looks like absolute crap. Much worse than the S-Video/RGB output of those consoles and using the built-in upscaler of most TVs I've come across. This thing is only worth considering if your TV doesn't support S-Video/RGB any more and you can only hook up HDMI.

Not a scaler? If it was a converter that would mean it's outputting 240p over hdmi. It says 1080p on it so I'm guessing it's treating the 240p as 480i and upscaling it. You have so many high end solutions to compare it to that your lack of criticism comes off very strange. I feel sorry for anyone who buys this thing thinking this video had positive thoughts for this piece of junk other than it being cheap

The free snes games see. Good but donkey Kong country became pixelated and worse than the smooth snes originals I still play. Mario Bros 2 had better backgrounds but still pixelated.
