@@tmo27982016+ Miatas with the auto are the ultimate incarnation of this classic car. I’ve owned one from every generation, all manual of course. But that changed forever when I drove a ‘19 with the auto. Shockingly, I was converted. It’s essential for car guys. Seriously.

We called those the Tupperware edition. It’s a much prettier car without that stuff tacked on. I have owned 10 Miatas. Favorite is a ‘99 as it is very close to the same weight as an NA with a nicer interior and I think better styling.

@@tmo2798 That LS is 2387#. The problem I have with the later loaded NBs is that they were near as porky as the NC, but we’re basically still NA based. They did not have the structural integrity that the NC chassis had designed into it. I had a 2005 Mazdaspeed, which ironically was the heaviest NB they ever made at 2529#. I’m 6’6”, so barely fit in my ‘99 Miata. My saving grace is that I’m skinny. But I’ve learned a lot with this little car. I taught myself to drive stick in this thing, although I’d had some experience driving stick big rigs. It’s even an ideal platform for learning auto mechanics. Everything is basically simple or small, so it never gets out of hand… Btw, my very first car ride ever as a baby was in my dad’s MGB. I was told the car swayed side to side on its shocks.

That the NB Miata resembles a baby Viper is no coincidence. Ken Saward, head of Mazda design USA got his start at Chrysler and worked on the Viper program. Also, something that didn't make it into the NB model is the headrest speaker from the na. My gal's 102,000-mile '01 Miata NB is, like yours, silver w/ tan top. She christened her "Belle." Miatas are honest, genuine, thoroughly engineered, yet simple sport cars. ("Sport" single, according to Carroll Shelby, who certainly knew.) Like the NBs like yours and hers better than the first-generation NAs w/ their pop up headlights. NBs are more refined. The newest Miatas lost the happy A-H Sprite smiling radiator opening, too much styly testoterone. But the NBs don't have a bad line. Anyone can make a long, big car look elegant. Doing so on a car a Miata's size is high art. Thanks for the vid.

Even those rock hard donuts didn't diminish the excellence of this car. I replaced them a year later with Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires and whoa! Agree with others that the car is better looking without the body moldings. The formula was simple, copy an british open top sports car then put a good rear suspension, don't let the top leak and most importantly make it reliable.

Come on 🤣 You have to limit yourself, when you grocery shopping. To our taste the one you review is pimped too much with skirts. Complaints: Even the smallest door pockets would be nice, instead of using the door handle for i.e. my phone. Turn signal indicater is too easy to ignore visually with the top down, as you cannot hear it anyway. LOVE that you can put the top up or down in a split second whilst the traffic light is red.

Not a huge Mazda fan, but the Miata was/is second to none and didn’t need a ton of power and/or loaded with tech, to be so. Just an affordable, quick, good looking, and very well sorted out from the factory roadster that isn’t intimidating to wrench on.

Very nice car, great video too! It has the same interior color scheme as my 2008 Mazda 3 and I like it! But I'd much prefer to have one with the Mazda 3 2.0L engine than the ancient 1.8L. I had a 99 Protegé in the past with the 1.8L and it didn't had great fuel economy.

That would be an ND. Or for the Mazda 3 engine significantly improved it would be an ND2.

I have my 3rd Miata, and it's my fourth roadster. Started with an NB, then an NC (but kept the NB) then went to Europe, so sold the NC took the NB overseas. Sold it there before coming back. Back in the US after 3.5 years, got me a Porsche Boxster. A mistake... Was not happy with it - really. (I must be a freak). No problems with the Boxster, but sold it after 1.5 years. And now I've got an NC and am happy again. (Don't care for the ND's looks) I'd like to have an NB again concurrently with the NC, so where and when is the auction?
