Currently I am trying to get a refund for my McAfee. I turned auto-renewal off, but they have already taken the money, even though I haven't reached the end date yet. They make it purposefully difficult to do and the automated customer service just sends you round in circles. I will NEVER touch McAfee again.

@@indiphilemabhozo Yes, by contacting them directly, but that contact detail was nowhere on their product, so I found a contact detail on a Japanese website.

@@indiphilemabhozo Yes, I did. Couldn't find a way to do it through software on the computer, or McAfee's website, but finally found a UK phone number, after a lengthy Internet search, and cancelled and refunded via talking to a live human being.

I cancelled by phone & CHARGED ANYWAY!!! Never sent cancelation confirmation! NO REFUND!

I just renewed my LiveSafe which I had for three years when I bought my computer. I was able to easily turn off auto renewal back then but not now. The new set up is purposefully confusing and sketchy as hell. I'm tempted to cancel but since I got a good deal I'm going to do what you plan on doing. If I have any issues I'll just get the credit card company to deal with them.

Yep, sounds like a good plan! Also, I think windows defender is good enough, especially in the newer edition of windows - you really don't have to pay for extra antivirus.

i bought my laptop 2 years ago and the macafee antivirus was pre-installed and I had a 1-year free subscription with it when it expired, I just didn't buy any new or renew the same but from the last 1 month my laptop started hanging sometimes and then I thought of buying the antivirus so I clicked on the renew my subscription button in macafee and it opened some page which showed the price of plan some 3k rupees for 1 year whereas when I checked the macafee the plans over there cost 750 for 2 years how the hell is this possible and why is this happening

I don't know. I've tried this trick, consider reinstalling windows on your laptop from windows settings (don't do a clean USB installation, just select reinstall from windows settings) and it will reset the laptop just like it was when you bought it. This means that mcaffee will be pre installed again, and you will get another year of free subscription, because it thinks that the laptop is new (because of the fresh windows installation). Also, this will allow you to get a discounted version for another year - I don't recommend buying it though. Try at your own discretion.

Ya i purchased today and cancelled today its self the problem is the customer care keep convincing you that don't cancel the membership so you have to say them 3-4 times to cancel

Yes, I was able to do so. I actually ended the membership a few months after buying it so I wouldn't forget.

Try to remove all the payment method that listed on your account it will automatically turn off the Auto Renewal. But still, I don't have anything to request a refund. hope it helps. Thank You!

It is a scam. Criminal. I purchased a one device package last year for 40 bucks. They renewed it one year later for 10 devices at 120. In the process of getting it worked out. But safe to say I'll be looking elsewhere for virus protection.

same happened to me I bought the £40 deal and then it auto renew'd when there was still 30days left on the subscription but the auto renew cost £120
