McGoohan was a brilliant actor and he takes this film to a different level of excellence. His charisma just leaps off the screen and he blows away his fellow actors.

He really does blow away his fellow actors. That voice - that delivery! One of the best in my opinion.

Patrick McGoohan was government operative John Drake in the British series Danger Man (re-titled Secret Agent in the U.S.) and in the series The Prisoner, two of the very best produced and acted programs of the 1960's.

and yet every word of it is true - air density is a function of temperature and air density determines bullet deceleration. In the artic bullets realy do decellerate more quickly. It is indeed a powerplay but it illustrates the capacity of the agent to understand important techinacal details.Its a flexing of intellectual muscles.

McGoohan would have been the James Bond we all fantasized about. He probably would have taken the role today, and pushed back on all the stereotypes and reshaped the role.

@@tachikomakusanagi3744 Allow me to expand on that. All bullets or projectiles of any kind decelerate in passing through a medium due to the friction of striking molecules of that medium, whether it be a gas, liquid, or solid (ie. air, water, or gelatin block). Obviously, projectiles decelerate much faster passing through a liquid or solid than through a gas. Any gas or mixture of gasses such as air, unlike a liquid or solid, is compressible and the colder it gets the more compressed it gets, that is, the more molecules within a given volume. (Charles's Law)

@@jamescollinson2456 As i said, it goes slower quicker. The point here is that the air density is higher, due to the lower temperature at these polar latitudes. This is due to Boyles law, if you happen to be interested. The higher air density applies a higher decelaration force than what would be experienced in south east asia, with the higher air temperatures and lower air densities experienced there. Is this enough for you?
@jamescollinson2456
@jamescollinson2456 7 ай бұрын
@@tachikomakusanagi3744 From the time stamp it looks like you rushed that reply. Boyle's Law isn't relevant here because temperature is not the factor held constant as required in Boyle's. In this instance Charles's Law applies since absolute temperature is the controlling variable resulting in the increased density of air as it gets colder. I recall getting it wrong on a chemistry test in high school and that somehow helps me remember which law is which. Boyle's Law: The absolute pressure of a given mass of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to the volume it occupies at a CONSTANT TEMPERATURE within a closed system. Charles's Law: The volume of a given mass of an ideal gas is directly proportional to its ABSOLUTE TEMPERATURE at a constant pressure within a closed system.

@@jamescollinson2456 I have never heard of Charles' law, so thank you for introducing me to it. When i learned chemistry we were told about Boyles law being how the concept of an absolute zero of temperature was first proposed, and in my recollection it was extrapolated back as a volume vs temperature relationship. Perhaps Boyle and Charles contributions were combined in order to simplify the lessons for us of younger and smoother brains - i will investigate... and once again thank you sir.
