As mean as the Palau situation with Wanda/Jonathan is, I will always think it's hilarious how (according to Ian and Tom), Jonathan's social game was SO BAD that half the cast thought his name was actually "Kevin", and a bunch of people were getting paranoid there was a secret 21st castaway they didn't know about, lol.

Greg, Gregg, Judd, Alexis, Kat, Brenda, and Ron all won the family visit and were ALL voted out the same episode So NEVER win the love ones challenge

And Mike, Nick & Tommy are the only winners who also won the family visit. And even then Nick & Tommy's wins were team wins where they had to partner up with Angelina & Janet respectively. So really Mike is the only winner who also individually won the family visit, and even he would've been voted out if he didn't win nearly every every immunity challenge. So yeah, never ever ever win the loved ones challenge.

I’ve always thought this. If I ever played survivor I would intentionally lose the family visit challenge. I never saw the upside in winning. You have just as big of a chance at going on the reward if the winner picks you.

Winning an individual reward challenge ultimately is a setup for the person who wins. Ask Fishbach in Second Chances. The only thing an individual reward challenge does is allows you to reveal too much about your true allegiances. If I won an individual reward challenge I would let my true allies know that I would have to take fake allies on the reward. But yeah, it's better not to win those at all.

The schoolyard pick twist is actually pretty good, it’s a good way to stir shit up early on by forcing people to reveal who they’ve connected with so far and letting the last picked know that they’re at the bortom of the totem pole and need to put in some work, but where they failed is adding in the additional twist of the last two people being eliminated. It’s just taking it a step too far for no reason, if the cast was bloated they should’ve just cast two less people for the season.

The issue with this is, people are cast to fit roles within the season. Imagine the 2 gone, are the Russell’s and Parvati’s and we are left with a season of Natalie Woods. It’s dumb when you look at the whole picture.

What you forgot to mention about Fiji was that when they merged and sent everyone to Moto's beach, they sent the castaways on a wild goose chase to Exile Island just for them to come back to Moto and find all the luxuries cleared out.

I think the GameChangers merge twist was pretty cruel. There was a merge feast in front of them, but Jeff tells them they’re only aloud to eat if one person from each tribe sits out. If they don’t get two people to sit out, the only food they’d get was a cracker and a sip of ice tea

Brenda won fair & square & to be put on the spot like that sucks & is definitely mean & instead of the tribe banding together & saying "thanks, but no thanks to Jeff's proposal they're practically begging Brenda to give up her reward for them & she obliges & her tribe mates are beyond happy they're ecstatic, they're thankful & appreciative so they say how could they ever repay her for her generosity? Hmm maybe not vote her out at the very next tribal council that would have been the decent thing to do considering her selfless act or was it selfish in a strategic gameplay kind of way?

They already lost three immunity challenges even without Jeff, and I don't see how Jeff being there helps them win the slide puzzle or the SOS sign challenges. They might merge with a couple more members but Koror certainly wouldn't lose majority nor would they boot Tom premerge so Tom likely still wins.

According to some post-game interviews Wanda's problem was that she bonded with the women but NOT the men. She had multiple women who would have picked her if they could (including Jolanda who was a team captain). Jonathan on the other hand would have almost certainly been voted out if they sent all 20 castaways to tribal council. I'm not entirely sure what he did to become a target though.

Apperantly, Jonathan just didn't talk to anybody during his very short stay and he spend the entire day on the island doing nothing. I think that most of the players at that point didnt even knew his name.

Candice was actually an alternate that season. I believe I heard it supposed to be RC from Philippines, but her father had a medical issues shortly before the game. Since Candice was an alternate she didn't have any pregame alliances so she was screwed.

Sierra definitely overcame the first impression twist. Had she not started camp and proved herself in challenges, she absolutely wouldn’t have made the merge, and probably would’ve been a disappointing first boot

The thing about the tribe expansion to 3 I find annoying is how they always get rid of the 3rd tribe after 1 or 2 vote offs instead of having 3 until merge. Example in Game Changers they expanded to 3 when 18 where left, the expanded tribe Tiva was dominating. When they got to 15 Jeff removed the Tiva tribe and I kinda yelled "You have 15 players, you can still have 3 tribes."

The loved ones visit twist in Caramoan was AWFUL because it screwed over two people who clearly would have benefitted from quality time! Like I tear up a little in these challenges but I was weeping when Brenda was reunited with her dad and even Probst said it got to him as well. this stupid mean moment lives in my brain rent free. it's like, can i regret something i had no choice in, literally just something i watched and never experienced???? bc i regret this.

The last twist is definitely the worst but the one that really gets to me is the previous one. Being given the option to give up your loved ones visit so everyone else can have one. Like I’m putting myself in that position and that would be the most heartbreaking thing. Obviously I’d have to let everyone else have it if I won but damn giving up the time with my significant other would absolutely crush me just thinking about the situation is making me tear up I think if I were on the show I’d be full on crying. It would be such a horrible experience to have to give that up.

Ok, the "expanded tribes" may be unfair on paper but in practice Yara, Tiva, Yanuya, Tavua, and Ikabula all completely dominated in challenges and, in case you aren't keeping track, that is literally all of them other than Angkor and Lesu. Angkor really suffered from this twist in terms of camp, but they actually won more challenges than they lost making them pretty average and Lesu only sucked because Lesu was just Manu. Just to hammer home how unbelievably good most of them were, if you combine all the losses of Yara, Tiva, Yanuya, Tavua, and Ikabula then you get a total of 4 losses out of their combined 22 challenges. That is insane. Lesu lost 4 times in their 5 challenges and Angkor actually won 3 out of 5. (When I say challenges, I'm including both reward and immunity)

Yeah the expanded tribes twist always seemed super unfair but the tribes themselves generally did well. I think the most memorable one is Angkor (I believe the first time they did it) because they repeatedly told us how awful it was and they did lose several challenges if you're including rewards.

yeah i don't see it as such a disadvantage to the players, but as a viewer i hate it. It's hard to develop characters when you have to go back and forth between three tribes, which makes it harder to root for people.

As terribly as it went I kind of like the concept of the haves and have nots. I think what it should be is the haves tribe is given luxury items but very little food while the have nots are given an abundance of food but have no luxury items. I have no idea if that would make a good season or not but I think it could be intriguing. I think early in the game the luxury tribe would be stronger but the longer the game goes on the better the food tribe would perform.

#5 I once ran a role play game based on survivor and I had a first impression vote, but the way I did it was "who on the other tribe do you think has the best chance to win?" and the person who got the most votes on each tribe got swapped. #4 The Australian version has never done a tribe expansion and even swaps are rare. When a swap does happen, it's clear why. One tribe is just winning challenge after challenge after challenge and because no one can sit out in consecutive challenges, they have to level the numbers one way or another. Typically, as this progresses, you'll inevitably be forced to sit out the wrong people, but failing that... #3 Australian Survivor: All Stars did that and ironically, the winner of that challenge won a grand total of 4 immunity challenges. When you consider that Australia starts with 24 players, meaning you go from 24 at start to 12 at merge and you've won a grand total of 4, you're merging at, count it, 8-4 minority. Where's Russell Hantz when you need him?

I hate when players get screwed by swaps, but the 2 to 3 tribes twist feels like production leaning into the newer “voting blocks” strategy. The more overlap the players have, the more alliances, the more lines get blurred. Players are then able to play bigger without worrying about being labeled a flipper since almost every vote will have some level of flipping involved.

At top 12 do a seperation and work in teams of 6. Do reward challenges and inmunity challenges like they do at the begining of the game. When they have only 6 players left go back to being an individual game. Imagine those 12 fighting for not being the next U-long.

Yes, I know the winner to almost every season, as I watched 8, 40, but I don’t know the boot order, twists, and intricacies of each season, I have watched seasons 1,2,3,6,7,8,10,13,15,16,18,19,20,22,23,25,26,28,30,31,34,37,38,39, and 40

Jeff allowing a “mutiny” to happen is even crueler and that set the tribe numbers from 6-6 to 8-4 so I don’t think the message in the bottle was that bad. It just fixed the mutiny that already was unfair (and misplayed by Candice/Penner)

I always wondered why they didn't make the reward challenges at the tribe expansions (there's usually a reward challenge);determine who must build the new camp. Last place has to start over, the other two don't. Still sucky and cruel and dumb, but at least it wouldn't seem so random. I can't fathom why they don't do it that way tbh.

Would tribe swaps going from 2 to 3 or from 3 to 2 give better gameplay? Also as a means of reparations, I think all players that were put on the have not tribe should get a second chance, because clearly that theme was problematic and the game was purposely rigged against them.

Giving someone a monumental reward and then a 'charity' punishment that benefits everyone else is super super super shitty. The player in that situation either needs to give up their reward for the brownie points OR get a massive target on their back, it's forced as all hell. It's not even a fair choice.
