I mostly make comedy videos,
but this I just couldn't get out of my head.
I made this in a whole week.

i don't believe that ONE ended on a cliffhanger ONE has always been made to be different from any other game show including its ending the ending of ONE isn't a happy ending unlike other game shows but it's an ending liam succeeded in doing what he set out to do: -prevent airy from continuing the game show- _edit: i was wrong; liam set out to "put an end to one," not prevent airy from continuing it_ but that's it most objects are still stuck in the plane being in limbo including liam

I see one as a love letter and spit in the face to most object shows, alot of object show characters have little to no personality but when they get an ending that doesn’t feel satisfactory because of the lack OF personality, while ONE makes you want to see them succeed, you want MORE of them, only to give you nothing.Many object shows go on for what feels to long, ONE cuts it off for what feels to short

I think the main problem with the community reaction to one was that they missed the point of the show, but its not their fault, most of the community are young kids who don't have a lot of experience with literature. One is at its base a satire about the object show - a satire is criticism, but its not in to teach anyone how do their job, its an observer who simply shows what it sees. One has more "mirrors" to the object show community and creators, more then the cancelling, One is a story about stories, and the nature of a passionate person to get overwhelmed and burned out (although it isn't displayed so clearly in the show - airy breaks his face, but he's not in a coma for 7 months, he's still going around, as you can hear him sing in the end of ONE 8. it shows how sometimes things in life can overwhelm us or hurt us, and even thought we're not gone, we need to know to stop and heal before we keep going.). One really follows 2 paths of criticism, one is the nature of object shows creation, like i just discussed, and the other is about the treatment the contestants get - putting real people into the characters and having them go through the average object show runtime. I think a lot of viewers empathized too much with the characters that they missed the point the show is trying to show, and looked at the satire if it was a completely serious thing. And in some part, I think One is many peoples first interactions with actual piece of literature, not that Im blaming anyone, again most of the osc are too young to even interact with these stuff yet, but seeing as how the time goes on and people start to let the ending sink in, and realize what the show really meant, its really comforting to see they actually learnt something from this "experience" i could sit here all day writing more and more about how brilliantly the show played with many people (i would even make a video but i have 0 editing skills), but no one would read it, so i hope One helps more people get into literature and find stories with more interest in them more.

I completely undestand this take but I disagree with it a lot, I think ONE is a satire of stories in general and a criticism of the audience, ONE is a tragedy every viewer gets to view. ONE at every turn is roping it’s audience closer and closer while outright TELLING the audience that not everything gets closure, Parker doesn’t get closure, Liam cant let go of ONE, Nobody gets what they want in this show. Ever. One of the best things about this ending is that Liam could’ve SAVED them, it’s because of Liam needing his answers, needing CLOSURE for his tragedy that he dooms his life winds to eternal hell basically. One tells the viewer that stories don’t always get endings, you don’t get what you want and you have to let go sometimes. It’s like an antithesis to storytelling.

Yes, that is an excellent way to look at it! If I understand this correctly, then yes, this show can be interpreted as a lack of closure, however, everything in your statement basically depends on what *could've* happened, my main focus in this here "theory" was that we don't really know what *would've* happened, that we can't really theorize about the show, that we just do not know ONE. We could interpret it, we could share our opinions on it, and we could speculate on it, but we could never know what would indeed happen. That was my main point, I even ended the video with me saying that this all could be wrong because we truly do not know ONE. I may have not made that very clear in my video, which I apologize for if I did, But I never meant to criticize how the ending turned out. In this video I was trying to explain why the ending was the way it was, not the way it should’ve been. The ending to ONE, despite leaving many questions unanswered, which is not a bad thing, was amazing, Realistic, and one of the best ones out there. Cheers!

I really liked ONE's ending because it fits with the theme. ONE wasn't a happy show, so it only made sense that it had an unhappy ending as well as it leaving the viewer with the main idea of the show, No one has true control over anything. Airy's death shows this perfectly, and the fake voting, and the rejoining, and airy plugging the plane back in after the contestant unplugged it, and Liam drowing. The list goes on and on. Point being, ONE's ending is perfect because of it vague cliffhanger that reconfirms the core values and theme of the show. I think many of the questions that were left "unanswered" were things that didn't need or were never going to get an answer realistically. This is probably not what you're talking about but take the questions about the waiting room as an example. many questions about the waiting room or the radio could never get an answer because finding the answer would require the characters to gain access to information that they never could realistically find. a lot of the questions left open in ONE are like that because the characters don't have a possible way to find that information. Sorry if this sounds rude or angry im genuinely not trying to be rude i just like talking about this kind of thing

Liam just started the cycle again, keeping it going perpetually. it seems like airy wasn't the first person in the "forest" as we can see precut logs and vines along with the planets. regardless if the world of One is never-ending it doesn't matter because our viewport into the world does have an ending, and now it is over.

I actually liked the final. It just left me so devastated and it made me feel... A lot. Anger, sadness, confusion and with all together I was just blown away. I really think it is beautiful the way it is, and it wouldn't be the same with complete ending. Sometimes... Cut off ending is better than logical conclusion. Oh and... Once again... Honestly, I just have a feeling the ending was rushed (Cheesy has college to attend after all, which probably forced him to rush things), and maybe cheesy has some plans for season 3 (probably not on the last one). We got an ending that answered some questions, that is kinda depressing. Airy died, Texty is out of battery, Liam lost all of the notes and is trapped forever without a way to save his friends, and all contestants are stuck forever with close to zero hope of getting out of here. Yeah we don't really know if contestants are stuck, maybe Liam is super lucky and smart and rescued them. But thats what I'd like to call "open end", where we don't know what happens to main characters after the end but we can assume. Quite a lot of good shows and movies do that like Cowboy bebop, Red vs blue season 13 or Nolan's inception. But unlike in all those movies and shows (I know it's unfair to compare high budget stuff to an indie web-series, but hear me out), One left a lot of unanswered questions. And because one is Psychological horror/mystery show, unlike RvB or Cowboy bebop, fans expect for all or most questions to be answered. Also the Airy's death was really anticlimactic. He just slips and dies. And his back story is even worse, he dies in a car crash, apears in the underworld, randomly finds a radio room with PC and decides to make an object show. But if this is indeed a satire on creators abandoning their show, then, first why make a vidio saying that one is done, and second it's the worst way to make it. Like there is so much stuff you could make in object show setting, about being abandoned. You could make a depressing show, where contestants wonder where did the host go, what is the point of their life if contest doesn't exist, why did they spent all of their time to get on this show, if it was all a scam ans other things like that. Or you could make a show about a cartoon characters, that got abandoned by their creators, getting into limbo of sorts, where they try to learn a secrets of this place. And I'm not even gonna talk about fans of the show being angry, because the creator refuses to end it.

@@tzarg My problem with Airy's backstory is that it doesn't explain much. Airy's motivation is still unknown. Like why would he torture all these contestants? Because he's mad? Because he has a messed up philosophy? Because he's bored? And the origins of the origins of Airy's "power" (aka the PC which he uses for One) are also unknown. Also what are the odds that out of roughly Septen-decillion worlds. according to the radio, Airy found the one with the PC. Also maybe if Airy made a deal with a devil and was forced to host one as puneshment, It would've been better. Show already has wierd stuff like world of circles, living piece of text and Stone that knows everything that is happening and will happen in the universe. Sure it would've been a bit underwhelming, but It would've been better than having an explanation that doesn't explain much. Plus the show already has a lot of great moments, so the underwhelming ending could be excused, in my opinion, especially since One was Cheesy's first project of this type.

I feel like... there exists a significant fuzzle in the conclusion. The ending episode's final ending is a bit more conlusive: We find Airy in the plane. Like, i feel like the complete ignorance of the final minute is why this confusion arrises. Airy is there, eith nobody else, and liam is trapped with that computer. I took that, as well as the shows themes of death and afterlife, to mean that Airy and Liam share a sort of twinned purgatory. It may just be a theory, but it literally was in the show so....
