The Meaning of Wild is a half hour documentary film that takes viewers on a journey through one of our nation’s wildest landscapes, the Tongass National Forest of Southeast Alaska. The film follows wildlife cameraman Ben Hamilton as he travels by boat, plane, kayak and foot to capture and share the true value of Wilderness. Along the journey, Ben encounters bears, calving glaciers, ancient forests, and harsh seas, but it’s the characters he meets along the way that bring true insight to his mission. Filmed in stunning High Definition, The Meaning of Wild highlights never before captured landscapes while provoking reflection about their importance to us all. Ultimately, the film celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Wilderness Act and seeks to share these national treasures and inspire the next generation of wilderness advocates.

Even living in Australia one of the most beautiful countries in the world I still have this drive and attraction to visit Alaska like it belongs to me as well I hope that one day it can come for me to visit and absorb everything it has to offer. I just can’t get enough of it and thank you for sharing your experience

Lovely footage! I'm glad you visited Angoon. Too often "wilderness" is used to define native peoples off their land. They've been removed from wilderness areas, national parks, and all of their ancestral lands. The Wilderness Act says "untrammeled" but it isn't true; it's a fantasy. We have to do better by the first people to live in these places.

That's the best REPLY YET. PAT MC MANNIS could have some COCKROACHES IMPORTED TO FILL KAYAKS WITH. WE KNOW SOMEONE WHO TURNED SCORPIONS LOOSE IN A 🙏RIP OFF IRRIGATED ARIZONA TOWNIE TOWN, WHEN THE RENTAL CAR GUY TRYED TO HOSE SOME RANCHERS AND CONCRETE GUYS FROM UP HERE.. THERE ARE HONEST PEOPLE WHO KNOW GOD EVERY WHERE. NOT sure if Mc Manis ever worked or not.. Some people in the GREAT PNW, all the way to Chicago and down to Texas, turn baby rattlesnakes loose In odd places. TOURISM IS .......A TRAP COMMERCE SETS FOR PEACEFUL PRODUCING WORKERS EVERYWHERE.
