"Used to repair washing machines when he was a kid, now he's 19..", the stuff these crew went through at such young ages, not just this plane but all the other planes and other military units during this and other conflicts, great respect for them all.

Back in 1980 in Memphis, we use to eat lunch everyday in the belle while she was undergoing maintenance repairs. We had a lot of admiration and respect for her.

That plane is magnificent plane,during an air show in Farmingdale Ny in early 90s this aircraft touched down restored . For $10. You were able to enter the from the rear and walk through it to the front pilot seat. What a thrill!!!!!

Excellent movie. I have walked around a lot of the old ww2 bomber bases, or what's left of them. Lot of them fields now, returned to peace. Being from England, I have a keen sense of history, and know so many young American men made the ultimate sacrifice, let me assure you, never will it be forgotten.

I actually knew Harold Lock the top turret gunner. The company I worked for wired his houses. 🤔 Interesting thing, he always wore sunglasses even inside on cloudy days.

Their b17 used to sit at the Memphis fairgrounds when I was growing up, then Mud island now at Wright Patterson air base in Ohio I believe.

My dad's uncle was a B-17 pilot who completed his 25 missions not long after the Memphis Bell. He spent most of the rest of his life drunk. My dad was always very fond of him. He was a high functioning alcoholic, but he was still an alcoholic.
