Under Robert Pera's ownership I think the Grizzlies recognized that Memphis will never be a destination for the premier free agents so they went all in on development and culture fit. And it's worked. Give Tayshaun Prince some credit for player development. He's a key piece. Another interesting thing is how the Grizz use their G league team. They will sign guys like Konchar and Pippen who prove themselves there. I enjoyed this thorough discussion of my favorite team. Subbed.
@Ryria90123 сағат бұрын
A big part of Pera’s ownership is his trust in Kleiman. Pera is a very hands-off owner and has trusted and empowered Kleiman to make moves at the executive level and allow those moves to develop without the sticky fingers, want to butt in, treat it like a fantasy team style that a lot of other owners do.

Hi, I love your analysis of the NBA because you look for the overarching concepts that are not talked about enough (less is more theory), that is why I want you to talk about the following topic. What do you believe is the most valuable archetype of role player except the 3&D wing? For the bigs: the 5 out big like a Hartenstein, the stretch big like a Turner or the more traditional rim protector like a Kesler. For guards: the 3&D like a KCP, the playmaker like a Conley or the scorer like a Monk. Thank you for the content and keep up your grind!

The grizzlies scouting department is one of the best in the league getting good role players in Vince Williams, GG Jackson, and Jaylen Wells from mid 2nd round picks. Then picking up Scottie Pippen Jr and Jay Huff from teams who thought they were only good g leauge players is how you keep your contending window lasting longer
@1utube012 күн бұрын
Yep. 2022, -23, -24, 3 straight second rounders panning out, maybe a 4th if Cam Spencer is a hit. Bane and Santi are both #30. And obvs Huff and Pippen.

The way the Grizzlies have used the Memphis Hustle system to develop players is a key piece in all of this too. Majority of our rotation has spent some significant time on the Hustle roster, and the hustle have been pretty competitive every season of late.

They just need that last piece .. Brandon Ingram for Marcus Smart and Kennard would put them over the top with his midrange scoring for when the game slows down in the playoffs
@axemanaКүн бұрын
No on BI. He is a well known problem. Why introduce that into your chemistry? Besides they already play well when the game slows down. Jaren is dominating in the half court game. Actually they are swinging the ball and getting it inside. Or driving it inside for floaters, layups and dunks.
@iguesssКүн бұрын
@ most these guys havent seen the slow down of a play off series where Ingrams midrange jump shots shine.. plus that’s only one guy on the roster in JjJ and who did anything about Ingram being a bad teammate

I think GG was kind of that stars aligning kind of situation where he didn't have as much time to progress through G League or what have you, he was thrusted into a starting position on a very injured team and took up a very good role where he was one of the more exciting rookies to watch. Im not saying he didn't have anytime to develop but I do think GG is just like that, he fit very well into the schemes and was a steal draft pick.

Memphis is so tough! Ja is legitimately one of the top guys in the league. His presence is top 5 in my opinion. I’m not saying raw stats, I’m saying what he’s worth to a team. In my opinion he’s the top 5 most valuable players in the league. Morant can score 35 points a night, but he is the most unselfish superstar in nba today. He has developed these young people because he’s so smart, he knows that him balling out doesn’t mean nothing if it doesn’t translate in the playoffs. Then Jaren Jackson, THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN THE NBA, is so damn valuable! One of the best defensive players in the league AND ONE OF THE BEST SELF CREATORS IN THE LEAGUE. 80% of Jackson’s points are self creation. The dude is ONLY 25!!!! JUST TURNED!!!! Even his weakness, rebounds at 6 a game, that is in 27 minutes of play. Jackson is top 10 in value in the nba. Again, when I say that, who would you rather have right now move to your team, Damion Lillard or Jaren Jackson. Lillard ranks much higher, but any team would choose Jackson because the horizon is endless. Desmond Bane, started off slow and is figuring it out. Bane has been 2/3 and he struggled after that oblique injury, but he’s coming on line. Bane is so damn good! As good as you see this team, They are still without the following key players that are either starters or 20 plus minute bench players: Zach Edey, Vince Williams and GG Jackson. I am starting to believe this may be a championship team. They have a decade they could play together, easily. I’m saying the whole team minus smart who is 30. They are financially very healthy! If injuries are at a minimum, this team could be the next team to win multiple championships. A championship is so unlikely for any team, it’s an amazing accomplishment, but we are seeing all the right stuff for that.
