Lisbon has every right to be upset. Of course Jane should have told her. She was the woman who stood by him for years on his quest to take vengeance against Red John, and the one person most affected by his 2 year absence and exit from her life. She was looking for more from him when he returned....yet he fell back into his same patterns of relating with her. I love what Simon Baker said in an interview one time "Lisbon is the key to him (Jane) progressing in life..." Meaning, I think, it is when Jane will open himself up to be vulnerable and risk love again~this will be the key to his growth and change. When he goes beyond the mask, the con, the manipulation....and puts himself out there. What a ride! Love this show

@@smurfyday I love this quote from Bruno Heller! Completely true. Teresa Lisbon is my favorite character on The Mentalist. And like Heller said~it's what Robin Tunney brought to the character for so many years. You can't help but love her in every way. She brought a heart to the show and depth that was amazing to watch. It was obvious as the seasons went on in the show, that Lisbon was indeed the partner for Jane in every way. That his ultimate happiness wouldn't come from taking vengeance from Red John~but in being with the woman who had loved him and stood by him all those years. And Robin Tunney's performances bring a warmth, joy, humor & depth to the Lisbon character time and time again. She is phenomenal!!

I love how quickly his tone of voice goes from lighthearted joking around to immediately soft and gentle “hey hey what did I do” at 0:10 as soon as he realizes she’s upset with him…he deserved all the Emmys for his role on this show

But of course there was: Patrick's entire relationship with Teresa ran parallel to a frantically bitten back devotion--pushed down deep and bursting at the seams. He touches her every opportunity he gets, he watches her proudly as she navigates the grey areas between legal and moral, he is riveted by her righteous anger, ravenous for her attention and jealousy, anxious under her castigation, and glows like the sun when he makes her happy. He was willing to kill, die, and live for her long before events culminated in a confession. Imagine watching this whole show and not noticing the absolute inferno of Patrick Jane's love for Teresa Lisbon. Imagine being conned by a fictional con man's pretense of indifference.

pureoaknut Absolutely! One of my favorite scenes ever! Hadn't seen that one before this one (obviously). Biggest milestone for Jane. Part of me wishes they had this talk back at the hotel, but maybe she needed the time/space so his words would really sink in on the plane.

He did not want be loved by her, I wanted her, happy, her happiness. He was happy when he makes her smile, laugh... See her every day. When he scaped he was not comoletely happy, because she was not there. He suffered with Pike, but she was close. The move? That was his nightmare. Not see her everyday and finally he understood that he was totally in love. She? Prefered a good guy, but not be in loved. Marcus was like a plan, everything was programmed. But she was not a romatic girl she did want to destroy her relationship with Patrick. She understood his pain and did not hope his love. Maybe she felt that he did want to love again, and he thought the same. But everyone knew that it was late to that, the for years were a couple and were their person, the most important in their lives.

If there's any english native here, could you explain what is the meaning of "con" in here? I understand the sense it has when referred to criminals, the basic one, but why it is used by Patrick? Does he mean he didn't have feelings for her (he thought) so there was no trick? Sorry if it doesn't make any sense, it's just that I don't get the sense of the conversation with Abbott. Or maybe Abbott implies that Jane's con is "I'm fine with Lisbon's departure", and that was going to be his downfall, because by believing so and letting her go he would endup terrible sad. Is that what was said here? Thanks in advance

con is short for "confidence trick", selling a fake story usually to steal money, etc. Basically, some sort of lie. But the easiest person we can lie to is ourselves, to avoid an unpleasant truth. Your last paragraph is on point.

Essentially Patrick admitted his feelings here to Abbot, by not denying Abbot’s statement. “She’ll do what she wants to do.” He doesn’t deny that he’s hurting. He doesn’t deny that he doesn’t like this development. “What did I do?" Oh, Jane is feeling the pain right now. He tried to make a joke but she was not happy. And there she goes, off with Pike again. I like that later he apologizes to her and says Pike is wrong to make her apologize to Jane. She is slipping away. Here is Pike supporting and rooting for Jane, but Jane doesn't like that Lisbon is listening to Pike now, even if Pike is voting in Jane's favor.

I think Pike is a lot more manipulative than he seems. He is a police officer, we must not forget that. And how can you tip the scales in your favor? simply by going in the direction. Even though he doesn't approve of Patrick's attitude, he doesn't go against Patrick, because Teresa loves him. On the contrary, he will find excuses for him and he will grow out of it! Well done :) but I think he showed what he really thought when Pike sees Patrick again "Do you have any plans? apart from Patrick Jane? These two questions show Pike's true intentions towards Jane and his opinion towards Him and Jane opened his eyes at that moment. He's not a "good man"

@@Lydia-vv8tu On first viewing, I didn't think so. But after viewing a few more times, yes I got the feeling that Pike was trying to manipulate the situation in his favor. I don't know if I would say he was being manipulative in this specific scene though. I think he was being sincere in his support for Patrick. The manipulation came later after he started seeing Lisbon hesitate more and more, and particularly after Patrick came over with the cannoli. The very next morning Pike proposes, so I think that rush to get married is directly a result of him seeing Patrick come over so late at night. Pike knew something was up because after explaining the plot of Casablanca, he immediately decided to watch something else.

On the one hand because he felt that there was something between them from the start and that he understood that Patrick had feelings and that Teresa was navigating in troubled waters with regard to hers on the other hand when he's waiting for her at the hospital. I think he sensed Patrick's tension. At that moment, he decided to act in such a way that he reinforced Teresa in her opinion that Patrick was "using" her for his purposes when since his return from exile everything showed that it was SHE his return. In short, he kept him blind to his own design. We just have to see when she calls him to tell him that she agreed to marry him. What's he saying ? “YES” Patrick says “Thank you” And the other scene that reminds me of it is when he says to Patrick “You win her” In this game, you never win. Teresa's attitude was telling, she knew she was making a mistake. I doubt she would stay in Washington

Y en el medio de la crisis de adaptacion de la pareja aparece Pike que es el molesto mosquito que termina con la seguridad de Jane sobre la incondicionalidad del amor de Lisbon hacia el y lo obliga a tomar coraje y decidir expresar sus sentimientos.
