Orson Wells never missed. Good looking talented man. If I had been born in that era I would have chased after that man. A true actor with great talent. So opposite of the current crop of slop we see in movies today. Agnes Morehead was quite the actress as well. Best wishes~

As a totally blind child growing up in the 1990s, I thought that the sound quality that radio spirits produced was great. I personally love the clicks and pops and white noise of transcription discs when it’s kept to a minimum, but it creates an ambience, I never could’ve dreamed that something recorded in 1938 could have this crystal clear sound quality. This is incredible stuff. I’m also curious because Some radio historians will tell you that before the late 1940s there were not a lot of transcribed shows. But we have literally hundreds of thousands. This one for example, was sustained. So would this have just been recorded for the purposes of syndication like why is this preserved?

I remember in the 70s, one of our local stations (maybe from the University) rebroadcast this in the afternoon (!!!) Maybe for the July anniversary of the broadcast.

Thank you very very much. I've been searching for this audio without the noise in the background for a long time.

Fun fact, this was actually a flop. They were close to cancellation when he pulled the war of the worlds. He even said years later of this particular episode that it absolutely did not achieve what he wanted it to achieve. People were not listening. But you scare the entire country and you get a sponsor and another good year out of it.
