Parents do have the right to dress or tame their children how they wish. The reason you can tell these parents care deeply enough for their children that they take the time to learn their culture is from the mum letting Joe know right away 'not to take offense or force eye contact b/c of their birth country customs'. It is quite obvious she took the time to get to know every aspect of her children - fears, likes, reactions to certain things, etc. GREAT FAMILY! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I have so much respect for this mom. There are so many episodes where I can't understand why parents tolerate bad behavior, but I totally get where this mom is coming from. How do you instill that sense of safety in your adoptive children, teaching them that discipline doesn't equal abandonment? Plus, for traumatized kids, I don't think these kids are badly behaved at all. What an amazing family. I wonder how they are doing now?

Just catching this episode. The part where the children blew daddy kisses to him on the tv and he "caught" them and put them in his heart just made me tear up! God bless these parents in the military who give up so much to keep our country safe. Thank you. Yes, it is from 2010 but there are still active military who are parents giving up the time with their family to serve overseas.

I adore this episode ❤️ the children are beautiful, the husband wants so badly to be there and active in his kids lives and is doing all he can from Afghanistan, and this mom is DEVOTED to her kids and is SO SO wonderful. She was open to criticism and I loved how sensitive she was to the kids past trauma. Happy Halloween supernanny ❤️

As an adoptive mom, I totally get her challenge of balancing discipline with forming attachment...can't imagine doing that alone 💙 also, I do get her sitting with her child in timeout...that's actually an attachment parenting technique that many foster/adoptive parents are told to do.
