Now that I watched this match, I see the change. The full armor used to be 0+3/3 as shown in this video. Now it's 0+3/3+4 ! That's amazing.

I think it's a bug-fixing rather than a buff. If you played Khmer campaign (i.e. 5th stage) in the pre-patch version, you will find the Khmer enemy ai's Ballista elephant created by castles get full armour upgrade but only player's ballista elephant can't get.

Petards? They are usually not as good as siege units or nearly as cost effective(because they must explode), but they trade extremely well vs siege units like rams if they can connect. They are sometimes seen in castle age though when both players build a castle right next to each other. For instance stone walls cost 3 stone, and petards in AoC cost 80 food/20gold, and you need 2 petards to break through stone walls, 3 after they get fortified walls. Siege units can take them down slower but they don't have to exchange their cost for taking them down as they don't have to explode, and overall petards are also easier to kill than siege units. Their niche lies on how fast they take things down, 2 petards may sometimes be worth it for opening a wall for a raid as it will destroy the wall almost instantly, as opposed to siege rams or trebs giving the defender time to prepare.
