My Husband- BOOK DESCRIPTION:
At forty years old, she has an enviable life: a successful career, stunning looks, a beautiful house in the suburbs, two healthy children, and most importantly, an ideal husband. After fifteen years together, she is still besotted with him. But she's never quite sure that her passion is reciprocated. After all, would a truly infatuated man ever let go of his wife's hand when they're sitting on the couch together?
Determined to keep their relationship perfect, she meticulously prepares for every encounter they have, always taking care to make her actions seem effortless. She watches him attentively, charting every mistake and punishing him accordingly to help him improve. And she tests him--setting traps to make sure that he still loves her just as much as he did when they first met.
Until one day she realizes she may have gone too far . . .
The winner of France's First Novel Prize in 2021, My Husband builds on the premise of hits like Gone Girl and Fates and Furies--how well can you really know your spouse?--and adds the tension and creepy obsession of You. The result is an irresistible read--compelling, tense, and engaging, infused with sly subversive humor, and told in an utterly original voice that makes it unforgettable.

Hi! I didn’t get your this in time For the discussion but read this last week and gave it 4 stars! I definitely see how there is a little of the wife in a lot of us and how we overthink and jump to conclusions. Maybe not to the same extent but I was enthralled by the writing style and the thoughts. I was sucked in the whole time. I also agree with what was said by thinking “ sometimes I feel like I’m unhinged but I’m not this bad” 😂overall I really enjoyed it and the epilogue was wild! I also love how neither of them were named! I never remember names anyway lol

This was a 4 star read for me. Thanks for putting it on my radar. Spoiler ahead: I thought the story would pivot when her lover pointed out the mole on her back, like maybe it would turn into something serious and she would change her ways.

This was such a fun discussion! While we were all chatting, I couldn't find my notes on what my spouse* had said to me after I shared the book with him earlier today, but the whole of his thought was this: "They are the best for the worst in each other! Sounds like he engages with her on a level that feeds her." Also! I meant to mention that I read a few interviews with the author and I thought her inspiration for the book was interesting: "“I was very much in love with my boyfriend. So I kept wondering, why am I so passionate, so very intense? But I was very sad too because a honeymoon phase doesn’t last. But that kind of intense love changes over time and I wanted to explore that in fiction. Can it ever last? But then I thought: ‘Would it be worse if it didn’t go away?’” *I literally cannot say "my husband" anymore...I read it too many times in this book 🤣

Ooh, I like that image of him feeding her. They feed each other. Thanks for sharing the quote from the author too. I’m fascinated!
